AUSTIN, Texas - Four standouts on the diamond and in the classroom – University of Oklahoma’s Alyssa Brito, Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Shelby Robb, Linfield University’s Kaili Saathoff and Oregon Tech’s Kaila Mick – highlight the 2024 Academic All-America® softball teams selected by the College Sports Communicators announced today.

Brito (Division I), Robb (Division II), Saathoff (Division III) and Mick (NAIA) have each been named the Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year for their respective divisions.


NCAA Division I

2023-24 Academic All-America® Softball teams announced for all NCAA and NAIA divisions (1)

Alyssa Brito, a senior from Tustin, California, maintained a 3.72 GPA majoring in psychology, and helped lead Oklahoma to the program’s fourth straight NCAA Division I National Championship in 2024 and its eighth overall. The versatile utility player, at third base or left field, was a valuable member on the last three championship teams after transferring from Oregon in 2022. Starting in all 65 games this season, Brito, hit .399 with 18 home runs and 61 RBI with an .803 slugging percentage, 64 runs scored, 16 doubles and four triples in starting in all 65 games this season.

Brito is a two-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) first team All-American, a four-time NFCA All-Region pick, and four-time all-conference selection. She played in 188 career games for the Sooners including 176 starts, finishing with a .395 batting average, 49 home runs and 167 RBI.

Seven of the 33 members of the Academic All-America Division I softball teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 11 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.793.

In addition to Brito, five additional student-athletes are repeat selections on the Academic All-America® Division I softball team – Erin Coffel (University of Kentucky), Addison Barnard (Wichita State), Kiki Milloy (University of Tennessee), Kelly Maxwell (University of Oklahoma), and Allie Skaggs (University of Arizona). Milloy and Maxwell are three-time selections.

NCAA Division II

2023-24 Academic All-America® Softball teams announced for all NCAA and NAIA divisions (2)

Shelby Robbis a senior sport management major from Arvada, Colorado, with a 4.0 GPA, and became the program’s first two-time NFCA and Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) first team All-American in leading MSU Denver to a 43-18 record. The Roadrunners’ outfielder is a three-time D2CCA All South Central Region first team selection and made the NFCA’s All-Region first team in 2021 and 2024 (second team in 2023).

Robb is a three-time All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) first team pick (2021, 2023, 2024), honorable mention in 2022. She was a NFCA 2021 National Freshman of the Year finalist, RMAC Freshman of the Year and won a RMAC Gold Glove.

Her career .425 batting average is the best in program history, and Robb set the program’s single-season batting average record of .535 as a freshman. Her .457 batting average this past season is the third-best ever at MSU Denver, and her 91 base hits was a program single-season record. She ranked in the top 10 nationally this season in hits and doubles (25).

In addition to Robb, 11 student-athletes are repeat selections on the Academic All-America® Division II softball team – Ally Distler (Colorado Mesa University), Savanna Brooks (Wingate University), Logan Menzies and Kenzie Middleton (Colorado Christian University), Kenzee Smith (University of Indianapolis), Lauren Dixon (University of Minnesota Duluth), Jamie Roberts (Frostburg State), Morgan Hill (Valdosta State University), Lindsey Hibbs (Adelphi University), Caleigh Rister (Pennsylvania Western University, California), and Hannah Martin (Pittsburg State University). Hibbs was the 2023 Division II Academic All-America® Team Member of the Year, while Hill is a three-time selection.

Fifteen of the 33 members of the Academic All-America® Division II softball teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 11 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.929.

The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Division II Academic All-America® program.

NCAA Division III

2023-24 Academic All-America® Softball teams announced for all NCAA and NAIA divisions (3)

Kaili Saathoffa junior first baseman from Philomath, Oregon, maintains a 4.0 GPA as a mathematics and physics double major. Starting in 52 of 54 games, she compiled a 1.242 OPS, hit .479 with one home run, 18 stolen bases in 18 attempts, 23 doubles, 43 RBI and 71 runs scored in leading Linfield to a 50-4 record and third place showing at the NCAA Division III Championship tournament. The Wildcats won their first 44 games and became the second team in collegiate softball history to register an unbeaten regular season.

Saathoff is the first repeat Elite 90 Award winner in Division III softball. She earned second team NFCA All-America honors for the second straight season and is a two-time NFCA All-Region X first team selection. Saathoff made a repeat appearance on the All-Northwest Conference first team list. She hit .504, the only conference player over .500, and tallied a conference-high 64 hits and 19 doubles.

Twelve of the 33 members of the Academic All-America® Division II softball teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 11 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.94.

In addition to Saathoff, 10 additional student-athletes are repeat selections on the Academic All-America® Division III softball team – Anna Jackson and Morgan Frye (Berry College), Karson Bagelmann (Adrian College), KaiLi Gross (Case Western Reserve University), Abby Mace (Salisbury University), Mary Frances Eillis (East Texas Baptist University), Kaci Neveling (The College of New Jersey), Mackenzie Latess (Westminster College), Mackenzie Bivin (MIT), and Ashlyn Strother (Texas Lutheran University). Gross, Mace and Strother are three-time selections.

NAIA

2023-24 Academic All-America® Softball teams announced for all NCAA and NAIA divisions (4)

Kaila Mickis a graduate student from Klamath Falls, Oregon, and maintains a 3.88 GPA in dental hygiene. The 2024 Cascade Conference (CCC) Player of the Year from her shortstop position led the Lady Owls to a 49-12 record, 24-3 conference record and fourth-place finish at the NAIA Softball World Series. Mick was a three-time NFCA All-American and NAIA All-American performer for Oregon Tech, and a four-time NFCA All-Region pick, All-CCC first team selection, and conference All-Academic team member. She was named to the NAIA Scholar-Athlete teams on two occasions.

Mick became the eighth consensus first-team All-American in program history - with OIT recording a consensus first-team pick for the fifth-straight year, joining her mom Brenda (Ruppel) Mick, who earned the distinction in 1998. The Tech shortstop had a remarkable final year in the program, hitting .455 with five home runs and 62 RBI, setting school records with 25 doubles and 11 triples, while establishing new Cascade Conference records for hits and runs scored in a career and setting a new NAIA record for games played and at bats.

Five of the 23 members of the Academic All-America® NAIA softball teams boast a perfect 4.0 GPA in their undergraduate work or graduate school. The 11 members of the first team have an average GPA of 3.90.

In addition to Mick, six additional student-athletes are repeat selections on the Academic All-America® NAIA softball team – Carly Oliver (University of the Cumberlands), Emily Prai and Aliyah Rincon (Midland University), Lexi Klum (Oregon Tech), Shannon McAlinden (Concordia University Ann Arbor), and Kayla Dreese (Our Lady of the Lake University).

The NAIA Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NAIA national governance structure to assist the College Sports Communicators with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 NAIA Academic All-America® program.
