Year-round cabins & recreation such as hiking & sports on 690 acres, plus a restaurant with a view.

Absolutely beautiful. We went on a spur of the moment trip and was well worth it. Weather was just warm enough to enjoy being outside and being out of season still,it wasn't very crowded.

It's a nice park. Be aware of deers, often they come in front of car. I was there a few days ago. It was very windy. The lake is bit far from the park and there is no road to reach there inside the park. There is a restaurant and several cottages. It also has nice camping grounds.

This is a great park. We love the horseback riding, the paddle boats, melodramas and of course, the wave pool. There are great cabins for families and groups of all sizes - fully furnished with actual kitchens and bathrooms, TV and AC. Mahoney is a family favorite that we return to year after year. Make sure you plan ahead!! They are usually booked up at least 6 to 8 months in advance!

What a fun place to visit. There is so much to do that I am sure to miss some of it. Highlights; Pool Aquatic Center, multiple playgrounds, horse back riding, Zip linking and Ropes Course, a look out tower near river and we found a couple trails to walk as well. The park cost to get in and most of the activities cost. But I felt that it was reasonable. The water park is by far a favorite for my family. We did not stay in the park but we did spend a full day at Mahoney State Park. Be sure to follow the directions and post your park vehicle permit where you are told to.

Mahoney State Park is close to perfect. If you can’t find something fun or interesting to do here—well, you just aren’t trying. On the other hand, a stay at the cabins is a great way to just unwind and de-stress while observing the forest and wildlife. I tell people that it offers something for everyone. Check it out!

The park offers lots of activities for the whole family, from miniature golf to trail rides, swimming, a theater, an activity center with a rock wall, paddle boating, the list goes on. There is accommodations that range from primitive camping to modern hotel service in the lodge. When my children, ages 10 and 12 said "When we come back next year" I knew our vacation was successful, much of that success because of the variety of activities at the park and the proximity to both Lincoln and Omaha, which offers many other attractions.

$30 year pass and $6 daily pass. Great camping experience. Been many times. The showers are free, no money needed. Laundry room, Electric bike are for rent near the cabins. Two parks pool, horse, bike repair station, and much more.

We had a family camp out there, and we enjoyed it so much. The only problem we had was that. The fire rings for the campfires are on a slat near the campers. The bathrooms need repair and should be cleaned daily. It is very dog friendly and we of course brought along our two dogs. The roarsenment and good for walking dogs.

We went here for family get togethers, and we all enjoyed it. My dad brought his grill, and we cooked breakfast lunch and some of the nights dinner. We got the cabins next to the aquatic center, and we enjoyed it. Me and my cousins and I went for hour long bike rides to the softball backstop to play baseball/softball, and it was great, except there were no baces or anything, just a backstop so we were a little disappointed but that was not the only place we went. We also had a lot of fun riding to the observation tower and CenturyLink Lake. All the kids, including me and a few adults, went to Go Ape, and it was a blast. The Owen Marina & Craft Center was really cool. we went paddle boarding and fed catfish. We also rode our bikes to the playground and went everywhere we didn't stop unless we got a text saying we needed to go back. Out of 100 rate, it is 10,000. Bring your kids here for a lifetime experienceHighlights; Pool Aquatic Center, multiple playgrounds, horseback riding, Zip linking and Ropes Course, a lookout tower near River, and we found a couple of trails to walk as well.

Took our granddaughter and one of her friends to the water park last week.We had an amazing afternoon playing in the splash pad, and riding the waves in the wave pool.A place for the whole family.Everything is fee based for attractions like horse back riding, swimming, activity center, and crafts.Plenty of opportunity for free fun though. No restaurant on premisis at this time, but close to great places to eat

We enjoy coming back to the Mahoney Park because there is a lot to do, from fishingto ice skating and indoor/outdoor playgrounds. For the first time, we rented a tree top cabin for two nights, hoping to get a little spring break escape. Little did we know that there are train tracks running pretty much all night, plus you can hear the noise from the interstate as well:( We didn't expect luxury from these cabins, but basic things like coat hangers, hand soap and dish sponge would have been nice, given we have paid close to $200 per night. We did enjoy the real fireplace and seeing the deer from our kitchen window! Also important to know is that the bunk beds are very narrow (smaller than twin size) and difficult to climb on for younger children.

Janka K — Google review

A huge park with a water park, disc golf, fishing, paddle boats, driving range, hiking, horseback riding, go ape rope challenge, indoor playground, cabins, and so much more! And you are just down the road from platte river state park..another awesome park. This is one of the best state parks in Nebraska.

A 1/2 hour from Dodge st. & I-680 in Omaha this is a nice park that has a little bit of something for everyone. 1/2 mile off I-80 & Hwy. 66 near Ashland this is a great place for family fun. If you’re hungry or want to shop Nebraska Crossing is on three way & about 5 miles away. Once at Mahoney parking permits are required. $7 daily $35 yearly for in state, doubled for out of state $14/$70.2 water slides, one for big kids ( yes mom &!dad, this includes you) & a small set for the younger thrill sneakers. Mini golf, horse stables, zip lines, playgrounds, event center along with campgrounds & the Keweit Lodge ( currently closed for renovation & opening July, 1st. Park opens Memorial Day weekend. The Nebraska Air & Space Museum is right next door & I have not been there myself but have had many tell me if you go, plan a whole day for it. I guess it’s time well spent & everyone says that. While out there remember, no alcohol after 10 pm. If you can’t have fun here then you are not a fun person & should stay home. They are handicap friendly & that includes amenities. It is a State Park so there are rules. Also not far away is Country Grove golf course. Have only driven by it but it appears to be in great shape & a nice little coarse. 9 hole I believe. 5-10 minute drive from the park. This is nestled in with the Platte River so if you like the water, it has that too. Rafts, canoes, air boats. Not good for speed boats. Catfish all day long but many other species can be caught too. (Always wear a life jacket& is a law for those under 18 & just good common sense. Enjoy your time there because that is why it’s there. Easy to find & close to Omaha & Lincoln both. One more thing is there’s a Cabela’s not far away. I-80 as you come into OmahaGood for a weekend or a week. A gram wildlife drive thru safari & Schram Aquarium are 2 more places nearby Not to mention The Omaha Henry Dooley Zoo (#1 zoo in the country only 25 miles away. Plenty of things to do are close by.

Lovely walking trails and paved areas. Much to see! Friend said the bathrooms were clean.

As always it was fabulous. I worked at Mooney the first summer they were open and it been my go to place ever since. We stayed in a treetop cabin and it was awesome. The only thing that bothered me was we checked in around 8:00 pm and it was -20 outside-the outside lights of the cabin weren’t on, they had barely shoveled or salted so the pavement was slick and basically snow covered and it was 60 degrees inside the cabin. I had been told that the cabin would be warm, lights on, etc when we checked in. I give a big shout out to the park superintendent who personally helped us when our Jeep had a flat tire. He used his own personal air compressor and we were incredibly thankful. Mahoney will always be one of my favorite places, can’t recommend it enough!

Barbi P — Google review

We went to Mahoney State Park on a recommendation from a woman we met from Nebraska. Huge state park and lots of open space. Would recommend but just know it’s about 37/night without hook ups. A bit pricey but really great state park.

The best place to go camping, hiking and spending time with family and friends. To get some fresh air amd there are lots of thins to do. We had limited time with our stay but planning on going back there next year. Just FYI, I heard you have to book ahead of time. The Boyscout of America Jubilee 2022 was a success and very fun event and they picked the right venue! Mahoney State Park. Had a great time here!

Ajica 4 — Google review

Park is fantastic. So many fun activities for the whole family! Even though this is a year round state park and Campground, some of the activities are halted after Labor Day. Lucky for us we didn't come for the kid's stuff, we came to unwind and enjoy the beautiful weather and outdoor activities. If you are wanting lots of activities for the family, I'd make sure to check out their online schedule of events.Grounds are easily walkable, I'd say some of the areas have gotten overgrown with weeds and such, but that's probably because its the end of fall and they're waiting for the rest to go dormant, to come in and do a final landscaping for the season.Beautiful trails and views. We're camping and absolutely appreciate the wide open spaces between campers/RVs where you can spread out and have some breathing room..Bathrooms are for the most part clean. However the showers in the bathhouse at the Little Creek Campground needs some serious attention. That's the only disappointment thus far. We're planning to stay 14 days in total and we have moved campsites when we found another one that suited us better. We would definitely stay longer if allowed.

Institution offering air & spacecraft exhibits, plus rides, a planetarium & kid-friendly activities.

Wow. What an incredible museum. It's absolutely worth the money. I highly recommend. It is filled with massive planes in two separate hangars. Some you climb up to and a co*ckpit you can sit in. There is a small Cafe. The bathrooms are massive with tons of stalls, very cleaning, and also have a changing table. I also want to note that the toliets do not automatically flush (noise sensitive kid and public bathrooms can be a challenge) so it's always nice to know it won't be a stressful restroom break. The kids areas are huge with educational aspects with tons of fun. You could spend hours here, an entire afternoon really. My kid didn't want to leave. For the adults: tons of information to read and learn. I am very impressed with the information and quality of the items in the museum.

“Jaw Dropping” is the best way to describe this place. If you are into aviation or military history at all, you will LOVE this place. As we pulled in and saw the Titan Missile sitting out in front of the large domes roof, I knew I was going to be in for a good time. I was lucky enough to go to an event there for a convention I was in town for. And we got to have dinner surrounded by WW2 aviation history. Everywhere you turn is another wonder to look & interact. They have space capsules, helicopters, fighter, jets, bombers, simulators, a theater, games, and WAY more stuff. Just look at the photo journal I am about to post up.

New to the area and looking for new places to check out, this place was on our list and we are happy we visited! The size of this place is incredible, and the planes are awe-inspiring. It's obvious a lot of people put a lot of time and energy into this place and all ofnits exhibits. It's definitely worth a stop!

Nestled just outside Omaha, Nebraska, the National Strategic Air Command Museum is a treasure trove of historical gems, perfect for aficionados of aviation and military history. From the sleek SR-71 Blackbird, one of only 38 ever created, to the storied B-29 bomber, serving as the backup plan for dropping the atomic bomb on Japan in WWII, every corner of this museum is packed with fascinating artifacts and tales. One of the highlights is undoubtedly the meticulously recreated NASA-themed bathroom, adding a quirky touch to the overall experience. The inclusion of a flight simulator allows visitors to feel the adrenaline of taking control of a plane, while the authentic German Enigma Machine, on loan from another esteemed museum, adds a layer of intrigue. The museum doesn't shy away from showcasing pivotal moments in history, such as Jimmy Doolittle's daring raid on Tokyo in 1942, immortalized through detailed information and artifacts. Stepping into the B-52 bomber co*ckpit trainer offers a glimpse into the past, complemented by personal items belonging to General Curtis LeMay, adding a personal touch to the exhibits. For history buffs, this museum is a dream come true. While one can skim through the exhibits in about 1.5 hours, true enthusiasts could easily spend an entire day exploring every nook and cranny. Whether you're captivated by the roar of engines or the strategic maneuvers of wartime leaders, the National Strategic Air Command Museum is an unforgettable journey through the skies of history.

Great selection of newer, as well as more classical aircraft. Lots to see and do - we easily spent 4 hours marveling at and reading the rich history. Well worth the price of admission ($14/adult and $7/child) - definitely a must-see for anyone with an interest in history (especially that of the world wars).

Athena G — Google review

The Aerospace Museum is such a great place to visit. Some of the displays have changed since I was last here a few years ago. There is so much history that goes along with these exhibits and displays, be sure to spend the time to read them. There are some interactive displays for kids, they are full of some fun and basic information in science and engineering. The staff was friendly and they do offer a guided tour that does cost a little extra. My thee boys enjoyed The SACM and want to go back. There is a nice tribute to the victims of 9/11 that you need to go see. As fun as it was, it may be a bit pricey. We still might come back in a few years.

Benjamin T — Google review

We went there on father's day & along with the magnificent cold war era aircraft we also got a closer look at the vintage cars that were showcased for the onlookers as a father's day special display. It was enthralling.Getting to see all the aircraft from so close is a rich experience to have & all the way more interesting when you read their history. Each aircraft has their interesting past and makes for a fascinating history. It is a must visit place.

This museum has a lot of history and learning about the world. This visit, the power was out and the kids exploration/science area was under construction. The best part (this trip) was the car show- the boys loved it! Look forward to going again when the power is back and more things are open ☺️

Nice museum. Lots of children tho and pretty noisy. The planes are huge and it's great to be able to learn so much about them....the books said 3 hours but it was less then two. There was quite a wait to get in... because of all the schools that were there. They could have used an additional person at the front desk. Also the price is very expensive as far as museum's go. I thought it a bit overpriced to be honest considering what we were looking at and how small it really it.The planetarium was closed because of the schools and that was disappointing and there is an additional price for the flight simulators which was an additional $11.00..... but it was nice to see one. I wouldn't return with additional company, you have to really like planes which a lot of people don't.

Sharon P — Google review

A truly great museum experience! If you're into aircraft, spacecraft or just our military history, this is one of the best museums I have ever visited. Plenty of stuff to see, very reasonably priced food, and amazing staff who truly care about the exhibits and your experience. If you're visiting Omaha or Lincoln and this is your thing, I'd highly recommend making the trip to Ashland to see this place!

I decided to visit the SAC Museum since I hadn’t been there in many years. I certainly underestimated the size and variety of exhibits/areas that were available for viewing. There are two hangars containing an abundance of aircrafts, some of which can be viewed up close. In addition, there are areas dedicated to the Holocaust, space exploration, and an activity center for children. Overall, the SAC Museum is a large facility that contains a wealth of knowledge surrounding military aircrafts, while adding value in many other areas too.

Way cool museum to visit while traversing Interstate 80! Was amazed at the variety of planes on display: everything from SR71, U2, F117, all sorts of bombers, helicopters and spacecraft! Large parking lot so I was able to park my truck and trailer, mosy through the museum for the afternoon and truck on down the road. Even the bathrooms were decorated and an adventure!

Always nice to go in. We never had a busy time when we have gone. They re did the kids area. My kids liked it better before and not the new one. The downstairs bathroom is awesome. And they have a nice food area. The planes are always awesome to look inside and around.

Pretty interesting but starting to feel a little dated and lots of exhibits are broken or missing parts or signage. Best part is the traveling exhibit from Boeing which was awesome. Also, kudos to having the absolute coolest bathrooms I've ever seen (yes really)

I was here 12 years ago and this is my 2nd visit. Much has not changed since my last visit. The place is kept clean. It's a good place for kids to learn many different air crafts, their history etc. Some of the attractions let's you sit inside and it's a good way to explore co*ckpit etc.

This is a pretty cool place. They have 2 hangers fool of air planes. I took my teenager, and he loved taking pictures and looking at the planes. You can get up close to the planes and touch them. They do have a little restaurant there but we didn't eat there. There are plenty of places to sit and look at planes also. They also have plenty of parking. It is right off the interstate.

Visiting the area from Seattle where we also have an air museum. This strategic Air command museum was fantastic amazing aircraft and other NASA things to see. Great for kids from what I could see in other visitors. Plan for at least 2 to 3 hours to see everything in the two hangers. It was worth the drive from downtown Omaha.

Amazing experience! Dozens of different types of real-world used aircraft you can get right up to and get your hands on. Also a lot of artifacts from those who used them. I had enough time to see everything in two or three hours, but could have easily killed a whole day here. Will be back!

We did an overnight with our scout pack and the kids had a geat time. The programming was good and kids started winding down around 9:30 with a snack (goldfish). Lots of places to plug in air mattresses. Breakfast was a donut and juice. Was nice being able to walk around the museum between 8-9 before they opened. Lots of interactive stuff to do and educational info.

I love it here it is one of my most favorite places. The best part in my defense is the flight situation. I really want there to be a fight situation, too, but even so, it was still super nice. I can't wait to see what they do next.

This place is very well done with lots of hands on things! We took our 1 yo and 2 yo and they loved getting to walk under the big planes and “drive” and push buttons. Even the downstairs bathroom is cool. We did go during a field trip with was ummmm stressful bc kids were everywhere and in need of some extra adult supervision!!!! But the bit of time we were there before the field trip was great!

The Sunken Gardens is a garden that was built in 1930 and features sculptures, lily ponds, and lawn space surrounded by lush landscaping. It is a beautiful place that never fails to impress visitors with the amount of work put into maintaining it year-round. Spring is the favored season as it showcases stunning flowers like crocus, daffodils, hyacinths, and tulips still in bloom. The garden is small yet picturesque and remains open for longer hours than other nearby attractions.

This place never disappoints! So much work goes in to making it a lovely place. Year around. Spring is my favorite season, but I live out of town and fortunately missed the crocus, daffodils, and hyacinths. I was lucky to have caught my favorite flowers, tulips, still in bloom. Stop by if you are ever in the area and need a little nature lift.

My family and I stopped by during our road trip to Lincoln during summer 2023. The garden was immaculate. We enjoyed our leisurely visit and appreciated the wide variety of flowering plants along with the animals living in the park. You wouldn't even know you were right in the middle of the city if you weren't familiar with the area. This is a hidden treasure for Lincoln and the state of Nebraska - Make sure you visit!

Such a beautiful place to visit with family. Kids love watching the koi fish swim. If you have a green thumb/plant parent it's a neat place to see all the beautiful flowers and plants. There was an area closed off for a wedding the day we visited, but we got to see a beautiful bride and groom.

I stopped in Lincoln for an overnight stay and got to visit this place. What a beautiful and lush garden! Everything was in full bloom, lots of birds and butterflies around, gold fish in the ponds, etc. I met some very nice local visitors. Free parking is available on the NW side of the garden.

One of the most beautiful gardens in America! Words fail to adequately describe the experience of seeing this place for the first time. Brilliant use of design and space. Lavish use of color during any season. Plantings seem to cascade down the hillside terraces like a waterfall. This garden is an intensely spiritual experience!

Absolutely gorgeous!! There are so many flower beds. Completely free, there are donation boxes around the park. The whole thing is taken care of by volunteers. There are sculptures and ponds with koi fish. It was one of my favorite places to visit. If you like flowers this is one place to definitely check out. Its so peaceful and everyone there is smiling because of the beauty of it all. I wish I lived closer I would be here everyday.

This is such a beautiful sanctuary! So many flowers and plants tolook at. I love the koi ponds and all the little corners with cute benches. This is the perfect place to take senior photos, engagement, etc. It is extremely well-maintained with friendly staff. The place was so calming and peaceful, I feel like I could have stayed there all day. Do not forget to sign the guest book near the big dome, under the big metal "brick directory" thing. Also, you do not have to park in the parking lot. You can park on the street as well, there are entrances all around.

The Nebraska State Capitol, constructed in 1932, boasts a limestone tower reaching 400-ft. The building's design has a castle-like atmosphere and is surrounded by courtyards. Visitors can view impressive artwork, including mosaics, murals, and tile work throughout the structure. The top floor provides an observation deck where one can take in the gorgeous panoramic views of the city and surrounding area.

We checked this place out on our road trip. The day before we’d stopped by the Iowa State Capital, our first time in one, and we were interested to see they differed. This building was interesting because it had a castle like feel to it, and we got to sit and watch a senate hearing as it was happening. Very cool

A must see for every Lincoln resident or passerby. We enjoyed the guided tour and learned a lot from it. The city view from the top is breathtaking.

Such an amazing building. For us another state capitol and again someNew experiences we could collect. Parking in this area is kind of taff, wo we didt hat that amount ofTime, but an hour is good to go

Szilard K — Google review

Alison our tour leader has an in depth knowledge of the Capitol building and the impressive architecture. A must do if you're in Lincoln, thoroughly enjoyed.

Martin C — Google review

This is one of my favorite buildings in Lincoln. After visiting many other state capitols, I still love this one the most. Simple yet elegant, and it also remains a special place for me because my wedding photos were taken here (3 separate wedding photoshoots on the same day 👰🏻‍♀️!). I love heading up to the dome to have a birds-eye view of Lincoln.

Justine B — Google review

Our tour guide Kirk was extremely knowledgeable and so personable. He answered all of our questions and was very attentive. We never felt rushed and it was clear that Kirk loves his job! The capitol tour is a must see for all visitors to Lincoln. So much fantastic architecture and history packed into a gorgeous building. If you are in Lincoln, don't miss it!

Mark H — Google review

Absolutely must see in Lincoln. The second and the fourteenth floors have a lot of art work in them. Some of the art works have themes related to appreciation of workers. You’d see this kind of theme in communist and socialist artists works too, but here you get in it Nebraska State Capitol Building.

Yashar A — Google review

I would say this is one of the more unique state capitols we have visited. The view from the 14th floor was expansive. Since the capitol was built significantly later than many other midwest capitol buildings, you get a fascinating mix of art styles. The architecture and planning crew's background probably has to do with this as well (you will find out if you take the tour). It is many fewer stairs than other capitols as well, which can be a plus for some.

Morris A — Google review

They don't honor their posted hours. We got there admittedly right before 5:00, but when we walked in the doors at 4:54, I expected to at least have a quick look around the main floor. As soon as we got in the door, however, a security guard immediately came over, said the Capitol was closed and told us we had to leave. When I said I just wanted to take a quick look since it wasn't 5:00 yet, she held out her arms like she needed to block me from trying to get past and said "No, I'm going to have to ask you to leave now." At this point, she looked ready to remove me by force, so we left. I've never disobeyed posted signs in a Capitol, and I consider myself a strict rule follower, so being treated like a criminal for wanting to stay somewhere until the posted closing time seems a bit ridiculous. On top of this bad experience, the grounds were basically nonexistent. It was just a big lawn area, no memorials or anything like that. I can't speak to the interior other than the hall we entered at, but it seemed very dungeon-like, with no artwork or historical items or anything like that. These could have been in a different area, though.I would not recommend stopping here. I would recommend some customer service training for their staff.

Amanda G — Google review

It was a random trip. We traveled to Lincoln to buy a car. Walked the streets that are lined in a perfect grid. While the tall building is a marvel, the treasure lies inside, dim light, spectacular tall beams, peerless marble work, wall murals, prefect chandeliers, the state house chambers, it has an imposing peaceful and quiet gravitas. The interplay of architecture, light and muted displays create a harmonious experience. The building is the museum. A must see.

Arenas & Stadiums

The Memorial Stadium is the home field of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, accommodating over 85,000 football enthusiasts since its establishment in 1922. This amazing stadium is renowned for its boisterous and loyal Husker fans who make it an unparalleled experience on game day. The ambience inside the stadium is electrifying with vendors serving delectable food to satiate hunger pangs once inside. It is a bustling place where all kinds of fans are welcomed by high-fiving Husker supporters.

Incredible stadium- loud and proud Husker fans, no where else you want to be on game day. It was the most remarkable experience and we will definitely be going again this year.We tailgate before and then enjoy the food from the vendors once we are inside and the game starts.

Huge football fan and this place was pretty cool to see. You have easy access to view the field/stadium from a small section via gate 23a. Sign in and you can see the national title trophies, heisman trophies, and other awards. I enjoyed my visit.

Purdy L — Google review

I am not a Huskers watcher, so when we visited the stadium for a school field trip, I didn't expect it to be too interesting for me. But this is more than a stadium. It's a beautiful building with a rich history and they do a wonderful job honoring it. I was impressed and enjoyed the tour far more than I anticipated! And the kids, including those who don't follow sports, loved it. So even if you don't watch college sports, but do enjoy history, it is worth the visit.

Wendy N — Google review

Everything about the stadium for Volleyball Day in Nebraska was great! My only (tiny) issue was the gates were not clearly marked when arriving from the north, nor was my gate # on my ticket. We came in near gate 14 and apparently needed to go to the east stadium. When I asked where to go, she consulted a map and said it was the completely other side (it wasn't). My friend's ticket said gate 20 though so we headed there (not too far away) and they let us in. I would chalk it up to there were most likely a lot of volunteers working as ushers. I would recommend knowing ahead of time which gate you will want to enter from. Other than that one tiny hiccup, it was a fabulous experience!

I remembered attend an OU n Nebraska football game. NOT in Lincoln, NE but in Norman, OK, in 1988.I over did it at the gym and could hardly walk that week, and that Saturday was COLD.I had and did walk all the stairs up to the stands to watch da game.If memory serves me right, OU lost the game to UNL in 1988!

Great stadium and piece of history for Nebraska. Been to a few football games that have all been great with the best fans in college football. Recently went to the volleyball game for volleyball day in Nebraska. The crowd was awesome as well as the setup.

Tobias G — Google review

It was a fun place to see a game. We had accessible seating for wheelchairs, behind an end zone fence. As my friend said "These are the best terrible seats I've ever had!"We were close enough to see a couple of touchdowns mere feet from us, and we could hear the sounds of the helmets clashing. However, being at field level, it was often difficult to tell exactly what was happening. I'm not complaining- we were there and it was very close to accessible bathrooms.

Susan E — Google review

We recently visited the stadium on the day before graduation. We wanted to take a self guided tour but found out we could not because of the event. A member of the football staff adopted us and took us in to see the interior of the stadium, weight room and trophy area. We really appreciate his generosity and time. Everyone in the Midwest was friendly, but this was over the top. We are really grateful for his hospitality. Go Huskers! You have two new fans from California.

David C — Google review

It's crowded, it's loud and it's the best place to be on game day!!! I've been to many game both spring and regular season games and have always had a great time. Fans of all teams are welcome and Husker fans are always there with the high five!

I have always wanted to visit the University of Nebraska Memorial Stadium and it was better than expected. The history and energy in this place was amazing. Nebraska fans are passionate and were kind to us Sooner fans. If you are a college football fan, this is a must visit place you need on your list.

Jimmy M — Google review

Seats are very small and tight, concourse areas are dumpy. Restrooms are not nice. It’s what you’d expect for an old stadium. Atmosphere, however, was not as amazing as expected, could be because of a Nebraska loss. Still fun to visit and get the win!

Awesome gameday environment. I am happy that Wisconsin was able to get the win. Oct 10, 2015.

I was able to move around the stadium to visit friends. Even had a volunteer Boy Scout help me to know where to go. It's always a fun time in this stadium! They are very well organized, you can get tasty food, and the monitors can be seen from any seat. The only issue I had this time was there were several people vaping, which is super annoying, not to mention unhealthy.

Theresa T — Google review

Always an energetic time and fun with tailgating. The Husker nation is fun and friendly and we sell out every game! The stadium is great and they have announced upgrades coming to make it even better!

Heritage center focusing on the Homestead Act of 1862, plus a 100-acre park of tallgrass prairie.

The museum was wonderful, full of history and information. You can also check on several computers to see if your family was one of the first home stutters in America. The hikes were wonderful full of wildlife. I spotted seven species of birds during our walk trails were easy to follow and well-maintained. Will visit again.

Jody E — Google review

Quite interesting history of homesteading. FREE too, as it is a National Park! Older folks will really love this place, as in older than 70. Lots to look at & listen too. There is an elevator & restrooms 🚻 as well. Gift shop has great items & books. Art work is very fitting & quite well done. Handicap parking & entrance on South side. Worth the trip!

Anne K — Google review

Everything about this landmark is a tribute to our history as a nation. The design of the building to resemble an old fashioned horse drawn plow is very clever. A must see especially since it represents the horrible way our government treated the native American people. The ranger that was there was very informative and helpful.

Pat P — Google review

Beautiful natural prairies, fun little walks, and great information about homesteading in America. Visit if you find yourself in southeast Nebraska!

Isaac A — Google review

Wonderful historical park. The computer stations set up for you to research ancestors that may have used the the Homestead Act was fascinating! The visitor center shape is one of the more uniquely modern designs I have seen in the national park system.

Tim P — Google review

This is one of those parks that is the middle of no where and you have too go a bit out of your way to get to. It is so worth it, its a fascinating stop that is so very well done and well worth a visit

Jon W — Google review

This nicely NPS-managed historical facility has far exceeded our expectations. The museum educates visitors the history of homesteading from multiple perspectives, including the stories of the successful and less fortunate and how the combination of delusional ideology and misleading advertising of railway companies promising rich soil and ideal climate affect the native people. There is also quite a collection of photos depicting life during the 'homesteading fever'. Don't miss the Freeman schoolhouse that was operational until the 1960s, as well as learning about farming equipment in the education centre down the road. Exiting the museum through a side door leads you to a reconstructed cabin with an amazing view of the prairie.

Spent more time here than I expected, very interesting. The new Visitors Center is beautiful and full of interesting exhibits. Well worth the stop. Just plan on spending more time. A few nice, shorter hikes also.

Mike L — Google review

This is a great example of how a museum should look. The exhibits centering around homesteading were amazing, and told the rich history of how our country came to be settled. I learned a lot and saw a lot, and was surprised at how difficult homesteading was for those folks. Do not miss!

Wendy M — Google review

An incredible experience - especially if you have homesteaders in your family tree! There are two main centers to visit: the heritage center and the education center. Both are worth your time. The rangers are always kind and helpful if you need assistance. The entire park is neat and very well-kept. Don't forget: Veterans get in for free

M. F — Google review

Spectacular experience! It was a chilly day but we hiked, did Jr. Ranger, not so Jr. Ranger, and spent over three hours here. If it had been warmer we would have stayed longer. So fun!

Elaine M — Google review

Great place to learn more about American history. Good and bad lessons. It was too windy and hailing to walk but they had a lot of walking trails. The museum was well done as you can see from the pictures. The Rangers were very knowledgeable. There were 30 states that participated in the land grants including Alaska. Texas was not.??? Do your own research before you go to get the full story of the Homestead Act. The town of Beatrice was interesting too.

National Orphan Train Complex

Museum

Specialty Museums

The curator and guides did an amazing job of giving a tour and history less to a large group of teens. They made the tour engaging and added the extra touch of finding stories and history of the Orphan Train that relate to our community that is 20 miles away. This museum is a great stop for anyone visiting Concordia or the surrounding area.

Anne C — Google review

Really interesting and a wake up on how white kids of imagination back then were relocated; not just a minority problem in US history but all colors, creed and race had it. Its worth your time to visit and learn a quiet part of US history not taught. Cheers

Erik M — Google review

The orphan train warranted one line in the textbook where I first came across it. In fact, it is a story in and of itself, not just of the children but that time in America - from roughly the 1870s to the 1930s- when a massive number of immigrants poured into New York city. Many families ultimately were unable to care for their children, and religious organizations, supported financially by the Rockefellers, the Carnegies, and other monied families, ultimately intervened. Their goal of giving these children a "good Christian upbringing" reflected values of the time but is cringeworthy today. Over 50+ years, 250,000 children were shipped out of NYC to rural families as essentially child labor.Concordia, Kansas was one of the places this train stopped, and this national center has taken on the challenge of retelling a little-known story. Concordia is off the beaten track: roughly 90 miles east of Hays and another 50 miles north of I-70. But it is worth the detour - and I say that having backtracked two hours from Hays with some level of doubt. The museum itself is an unassuming collection of 3 buildings: you start at building 1, where you view a film which provides an overview of the orphan train. This building also has a bookstore. Building 2 encloses a restored and staged train car from that era (photo op suggestions in areas of the train car). Building 3 - which is the actual Concordia train station from the days of the Orphan train-is a 3 room display of photographs, explanatory plaques, and stories of several children. The exhibit is first class with detailed explanations, enlarged photographs, and artifacts. The museum appears to take a neutral "just the facts ma'am" perspective: it is in the stories of the individual children where you see the disconnect between the children and the families who take them on. While the exhibit appears complete, the work is actually ongoing, as the museum and its supporters continue their efforts to identify all these children and tell their stories.

I really enjoyed this museum. My favorite part had to be all the stories of children from the orphan train and pictures of them. The information was very in depth and I really enjoyed learning about this part of our history. In the tan building with the train cart the display was really neat and I liked how we got to go inside the train. Overall the museum was really cool and I loved it.

I had been wanting to see this museum and finally got to it. It was worth the drive, even on a very hot day. The museum is very informative and moving. The histories of many of the children are posted along with photos and the reasons why and how the children came to ride the orphan trains. Highly recommend!

We visited National Orphan Train on our way to Nebraska on 4th of July week. It's a sad and happy (full of mixed emotions) US history that should not be forgotten. Lots of children with few of their personal belongings arrived to Kansas for adoption.

It was really nice to see in the history behind the Orphan Train. I did not know about the Orphan Train until getting to Concordia. Love this place! I go atleast once a year. If you can help if plan your trip around a planetarium show timeing. A variety of different info cook for adults. The gun exhibit is really cool. The children interactive zones are so great!

The museum had a lot of variety of things from meteorites, animal figures to guns and antique cars and more but of course my favorite part was the Kool-Aid exhibit and the journey of how Kool-Aid came about to years of history. Reminiscent of some childhood and it was fun.

The mix of local, state and natural history throughout the museum is awesome. The planetarium is pretty cool and if the kids get bored, take them to the nature nook! They'll love it, mine do!

When I was a kid in the late 60's or early 70's my dad took the family to this museum on the way to Colorado from Illinois. I vividly remember one of the displays was a native American found mummified in a cave somewhere. He was in a reclined position and wearing a soldiers cavalry jacket.

Achterberg F — Google review

Growing up here was a kid this was one of the coolest places around and it hasn't changed. With the addition of the super screen theater and a few new things over the years it's become a place my kids love to go as well.

Travis L — Google review

Decently priced for a great museum. There's 3 levels of displays, a small children's area, IMAX, planetarium, and gift shop. My Girl Scouts thought the Kool-Ade part of the museum was amazing and spent quite a while there. We also watched a planetarium movie...just make sure you sit in the back and not on the sides.

Debra R — Google review

The Hastings Museum was bigger than expected (3 floors)!! It was well worth the drive from Lincoln. The planetarium show was very interesting. The shows also have listening and captioning devices available for those who request them. Also a great place to go for Nebraska history, as they have displays of native species from thousands of years ago and fossils/bones of mammoths found in Nebraska. They also have replicas of local shops and newspapers from Hastings in the 1900s. They have so many things to see. In many of the exhibits there are draws below the top viewing area with just hundreds more things to see. Definitely a great place for families with kids, especially young ones. However it was still very fun as two adults going without children. Would highly recommend!!

Brittany B — Google review

My goal was to actually see the Kool-Aid exhibit at this museum. But I was very impressed and surprised at the rest of the facility. There is a planetarium with regular shows. There are a bunch of antique vehicles in the basem*nt area. Their dioramas with various animals on the main floor. It is quite a collection and well worth the admission price. There is an elevator for those who need that accessibility. It was interesting seeing the history of Kool-Aid. Museum included everything from a replica of a store to costumes of the pitcher. There are lots of photos and displays of advertising and products from that time. Including variations on kool-aid. Museum is easy to get to. It's adjacent to an arboretum which is another pleasant excursion. There was a nice museum gift shop. It's very well done.

Kool, Man. Inventor of Kool-Aid left the museum as a legacy. A very nice museum with lots of exhibits, most NOT about Kool-Aid, for a small town (or even a big city). Exhibits will appeal to both young and old. A history of Kool-Aid and how it came to be is on a separate floor from the natural history exhibits.

Hank B — Google review

A pretty cool museum. We mainly went for the Kool-Aid exhibit and it was a good one, as far as museum exhibits go. Probably not worth the drive from Omaha…. But still fun, nonetheless.

Nick Z — Google review

I found it amazing that they had that much stuff inside the confines of the museum walls without being crowded. We gave it 3 hours on a Sunday and didn't see even half of the exhibits. Our next stop was Kearney, and on a day where one of our attractions fell through, we drove back to Hastings and spent another 4 hours going through the rest of the museum. I'm from Omaha, and our museums aren't half that well stocked. Hats off to Hastings for preserving the past! This was money well spent!

The Stuhr Museum-Prairie Pioneer features exhibits of daily life in Nebraska for both settlers and American Indians dating back to the early 1800s. It's a unique museum that combines indoor exhibits with a vast outdoor living museum, showcasing how living conditions improved dramatically from 1860 to 1890 thanks to the railroad. The architecture and historical artifacts are beautiful, and there are plenty of friendly employees, volunteers, and educational tours available.

If you are in Grand Island, I strongly recommend this place to visit. It has some collections you will not see probably many places. There are good collections of electronics and agricultural equipments from nineteenth century to early twentieth centuries. My favorite is the switching machine. There were two buildings open when visited on Dec 26. 2021: the main building that houses the visitor center, the second building just opposite to main building - it has opera house. Please also don't forget to see the railroad village inside the stuhr museum. The place is currently going through renovation, but it is must see for those who has interest in railroad history.

The Stuhr Museum is a great tribute to the prairie pioneers of the late 1800's and early 1900"s. From beautiful artwork to unique antiques displayed in the two main buildings to the pioneer village and well maintained grounds, this will be a learning experience for all ages. When you have worked up an appetite from strolling the village, have lunch at the bistro in the main building. Great food and very affordable.Kudos to the staff for a wonderful experience.

This was an awesome surprise in Grand Junction. Away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, this place is a quiet and awesome collection of the history of this area. It would be easy to spend the entire day here. Very nice to see the many items preserved for current and future generations to see. Many items have stories and I’m sure many untold stories that go along with them. I’d love to go through this place with someone older, who may have had experience with some of the equipment and artifacts on display. Staff was so helpful in guiding us through an overview of the sprawling complex.

We didn't have too much time to spend here, so we will definitely be back. There is lots to see.The railroad town is a great place for kiddos. It is a living history area, so there are people to stop and talk to allowing for a different kind of learning experience.I missed the Prarie restoration area and the Pawnee home. Those are one my list for the next visit. The road inside the museum complex is one way. There is a way to get back to the beginning if you miss a turn off. There are several parking areas around the facility so one can choose to park and walk the grounds, or use a vehicle to get closer to areas of interest.

Was super lucky this was 2 miles up the road from my trailer drop. They even let me drive around the grounds in my semi truck tractor. This place was really awesome. Reminded me of a similar place in Germany with old medieval buildings that I got to see as a teen. Would definitely recommend. Takes a good 2 hrs to see it all.

The Stuhr Museum was great! I did not expect so much to see and do, but the museum delivered. There was plenty to see and explore inside, but the real treasure was the outdoor experiences. My kids loved the old church and school the best. Would definitely go again; we spent the morning there and didn’t see everything.

Located upstream of Grand Island, the Crane Trust Nature & Visitor Center is a prime spot for witnessing the awe-inspiring spring migration of sandhill cranes and millions of waterfowl. The center offers seasonal Sandhill Crane Migration Tours led by expert guides, providing an opportunity to observe these magnificent birds from prime viewing blinds along the river. Visitors can also enjoy year-round hikes and take part in craft activities for children while admiring beautiful artwork at the center.

Fantastic place to see the Crane Migration!10,000 cranes , once in a lifetime experience!Thank you to the Crane trust for a fantastic evening !Did the blind tourThumbs up ! The volunteers did a great job , full of information and will answer any questions!

Great place to visit. Very friendly and informative personal. Craft activities for children and beautiful artwork. Bison roaming in the distance. Walking trails but it was raining lightly while we were there so did not get a chance to injoy that aspect. Very enjoyable experience.

Colette S — Google review

An unplanned but serendipitous stop along Interstate 80. We loved the art gallery, interpretive video and trails and footbridges on the Platte River. The Trust even maintains a small bison herd and monarch butterfly sanctuary. Before arriving we saw tens of thousands of sandhill cranes feeding in the cornfields along I-80 (late March), so when we saw the sign to the Crane Trust, we had to stop to check it out. We were warmly welcomed at the door, given a brief but thorough orientation to the setup of the building and then set free to roam the place. We ended up purchasing a large, framed photo for our living room to benefit the Trust before leaving. Wonderful place doing wonderful work!

Dan P — Google review

It was an amazing experience. The trails were easy to travel. My wife and I saw different birds.

Gust D — Google review

What an excellent VIP tour and experience. The volunteers are so knowledgeable. The time in the blind at sunset and sunrise allows you to see the cranes flying to settle for the night and you watch them wake up and get moving.

Tara R — Google review

I have often driven past, this was my first time stopping as I made the drive down 80 to points East. I have 3 homeschooled children and would highly recommend this stop as fun and educational for families homeschooled or not! We refilled water, had a nice clean bathroom stop, made origami cranes, saw an educational film- that makes me likely to add this to Our Epic Road Trip as a Mar/Apr stop to see the migration full swing! We.found treasures in the gift shop and had some lovely conversation with the volunteers/staff. Picked up some coloring sheets and activities for 3 girls to do in the backseat when Nebraska seemed to get to be too "long" for them 😉! And the art, photos, taxidermy... just beautiful! Definitely recommend- do plan for a bit of time, they have hiking trails to stretch your legs!

Big B — Google review

Don’t miss out on an experience of a lifetime! It was fantastic and we can’t wait to go again. The staff was incredible. Big shout out to David Baasch for the tour, interview, and wealth of knowledge he provided.

Ashley H — Google review

Wonderful experience (we took the overnight VIP tour). Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Presentations were highly informative and professional. The event was organized extremely well, with no glitches. Of course, the highlight was actually watching the cranes, which was amazing and worth the long drive and the expense. Overall, the organization is doing very important and good work. Highly recommended.

Ely E — Google review

This is for nature lovers. Saw different plants i haven't seen before in Nebraska. They have a bison family, with two cubs I believe. The front desk Lady its really friendly. I would go back to explore again. Have a nices small walking trail in the back.

Oscar — Google review

The staff was engaging and knowledgeable. The artwork was gorgeous and it was a wonderful visitor experience! Highly recommend!

Rhonda A — Google review

Went for crane viewing. Was great experience, people (staff) were great but windows in blinds were in either too high or too low places for taking photographs sadly. Angles and small openings made it tough for lots of people to take photos with out bending or stretching on tip toes. I'm 5'8" so I'm not short or tall.

BECKY D — Google review

This visitor center has so much to offer! The lady at the front desk greeted me upon entering and was so kind and knowledgeable to all of my questions. They have art gallery, videos, gift shop, brochures, hiking trails with bison in pastures and informative signs along the way. It was beautiful!

Erika G — Google review

This is a wonderful place to get out and stretch your legs. There are buffalo in a pasture. About a quarter mile walking trail. I didn't see any cranes, but I think it was the wrong time of day.Clean bathrooms. There are no paper towels in the restrooms. Just the air dryers. Refillable water station. Not much for food. The snack bar was not open. Snacks are available in the gift shop, but they looked pretty puny. Gravel parking lot.

Mrs. H — Google review

I did the VIP one night and it exceeded my expectations. The staff were so welcoming never minding the endless questions. The accommodations were super comfy, and the food was delicious, perfectly cooked and a broad selection for everyone's tastes. And then the cranes ... There are no words to describe it. No camera that can capture it. Just go.. sit in the blind next to this amazing show produced annually by nature. Watch these birds, wonder at their intelligence, their ability to adapt, and their beauty. A symphony of sorts, natures poetry, all live. A treat, right here in the US everyone that loves the outdoors must see. Just go!

Kymberli C — Google review

Really cool place with a really nice walking place near the river. Lots of things to see and buffalo were nearby. Volunteers were very nice. Except an employee kicked me out of the gift shop cuz they were closing in 10 mins instead of just giving me a heads up, which was upsetting. I was just going to buy a pop and an ornament of my favorite bird and couldn’t. Otherwise this is a really nice place to visit and I hope to come again!

Kelsey ( — Google review

Incredible facility with amazing staff and volunteers running things. The scenic trails and the Buffalo Herd are amazing, I cannot wait to see the crane migration in the spring.

Kassie K — Google review

Visiting here is highly recommended. Every volunteer and member of staff I encountered was so passionate about the work they do I couldn't help but be excited at every turn. The migration of the cranes is an awe inspiring event that everyone should see in person. The VIP experience is a must do! The cabins have everything you could need, the meals were delicious, and the HEATED blinds made the whole event more enjoyable.

Vast automobile museum with a collection of more than 200 cars, a 1950s gas station & memorabilia.

Loved the lay out and the amount of Beautiful classic cars. Staff was wonderful and very knowledgeable.

Paige W — Google review

We had a wonderful time looking through history of cars. How they looked from the Model A all the way to today. We were on our Honeymoon in Kearney, NE and where we're from, we have a Classic Car museum in Fulton, MO. Thanks for letting us look around at the wonderful cars

James S — Google review

An amazing collection of automobiles and automobile memorabilia. The people who are staff are very friendly and I am recommending anyone who has any interest in automobiles that this is a must see place.

Eric T — Google review

Plan on spending at least 2 hours here. I don't know anything about cars, but I still wish I would have gotten here sooner to have enough time to analyze each car more. There are so many makes and models, and so crazy that most of the cars came from the same person's collection. My favorite displays were the before and after restorative car exhibits.

Tyanne J — Google review

This is a World Class showcase of vintage automobiles. They are displayed very compactly, are polished and clean,, and the entire facility is spotless. The gentleman who welcomed us was friendly, polite, knowledgeable, and dedicated to making sure our experience was a positive one -- which it most certainly was! From cars that I drove as a young man to cars I had never heard of -- every one displayed beautifully with very detailed information cards. If you don't like cars, just walk around and listen to the GREAT music that is playing! If you are visiting Kearney, take time to enjoy this collection - you won't be disappointed.

Richard F — Google review

Wonderful stop off I-80! The collection is over 200 cars (some rotating through). Spend over an hour just walking through. My wife and I stopped here since we were driving by on I-80, would recommend.

Austin W — Google review

Awesome!Went in expecting nothing more than muscle car show autos. Was I wrong! I was blown away at the collection of "off brand" autos that went away in the early 1900's. And every one restored to perfection. With perfect paint jobs and no oil leaks on the floor, each auto displays a small history of its origin, original cost new, and maker. Well displayed with nostalgic a service station and a drive in theater. My only regret was waiting 10 years to experience it. I will come back with friends and family.

Neal M — Google review

Josh did a great job Sharing his knowledge of what's in the museum. They also do a great job displaying All the cars that's in the collection. It's also pretty neat that they will be changing the collection periodically to keep it fresh. The level of care and detail that they go to display and share the knowledge of these vehicles Is very impressive. Kind of makes you feel good to know that the history. That is being displayed here. Will live on for a long time. Definitely a Hidden Gem in Kearney, Nebraska I will definitely be back

I have an allergy about dust. There is no smell of dust from museums that usually store old things. It's well-managed and clean. The owner is very kind, so if you ask something you don't know, he explains it well.

Since we visited here last week we have told five people about this museum. It’s a gem. Clean, packed with vintage cars and set up in a way that made us laugh. The good old days when you had a ton of metal surrounding you. The chrome work on these works of art was amazing. Don’t miss this place. It’s FANTASTIC.

The Great Platte River Road Archway Monument is a unique and notable architectural landmark situated over the I-80 highway near Kearney. The museum inside provides an intriguing portrayal of the Western migration during the 19th century through innovative multimedia exhibits. Visitors can learn about the diverse array of people who traveled this route, including wagon train riders and modern-day drivers. The exhibits are expertly crafted with attention to detail, featuring hand-painted figures and murals on the walls.

Fun interactive and hands on history information that kept your attention the entire time! Give yourself plenty of time to really take in all the memorabilia and listen to all the stories and facts at the Wonderful, Gem of a museum! Family of 4 cost $31My boys are almost 9, and almost 3. A must visit!!

Gina M — Google review

Neat experience! I had driven under the monument countless times and never stopped but it was worth it. However, I think the audio tour is something you do once and don't necessarily have to do again. The outdoor area is well taken care of and I appreciate the use of native plants and flowers. Would be a nice area to hold an outdoor event.

Lindsey W — Google review

Skillfully created displays depicting the history of the great migration of people across the country over two centuries. Two storey escalator and self-guiding listening devices. The arch museum is solid, and no traffic noise intrudes. In the cafe near the end are two windows looking out over I-80! It's fun to watch the radar gun. There's a good-sized gift shop, too. And, new to someone from the West Coast, the bathrooms are storm shelters.Read the story outside of the bronze statue of two boys galloping on a horse. Then look closely at the statue. It'll break your heart.

Carol H — Google review

OMGosh, where to begin. Number one, YES, take the time, make the stop, go through the museum, hike the trails. The museum is brilliant, built over the highway, it was built in the air, taking up no precious space on the ground. The story of the westward expansion that passed through and around the area was vast and sweeping. The murals are some of the most exquisitely painted murals I’ve ever seen. The artists that painted the murals are of the highest caliber. Jaw dropping.

Lynda W — Google review

We had stopped completely by chance while passing through and ended up taking time to go through the whole museum and walk the paths outside! It's a truly impressive place and hits on so many educational topics in a really fun and interactive way! The amount of work and attention to detail is really astounding and the people were all so friendly! If you're ever passing by with a little extra time it's really worth a visit, it won't take you off your driving route and will definitely add some excitement to your day!!

Stephani S — Google review

This was a fantastic place to go for our three boys ages 7-12...probably the best museum experience we have had with them. The way the audio and experience was laid out made it into a bit of a scavenger hunt for them. We took a little over an hour and they were really engaged, not wanting to miss any of the numbers/content.

Tim H — Google review

I have lived in Nebraska my entire 43 years and never visited this place and now I’m kicking myself for it. I had no idea what I was getting into. Normal museum this is not. A story telling audio guided tour through Americas history is what you can expect. Incredibly detailed displays and murals make you feel as though you are a part of these eras. 10/10 for sure!If you have kids they may peter out 3/4 through the exhibits but all and all its interactive enough for most that I think they’d be ok. There is a fossil and gemstone panning display at the end that my son loved. You buy a sack of mining sand at the gift shop. Splurge on this for cool stuff!

Cory B — Google review

What a great experience to walk through and listen to Nebraska history from the Indians and Pioneers to the building and expansion of the railroad to the highway system all based around the lives of people. Worth the price of admission. Definitely will be a great memory.

K.C H — Google review

Wow! Was this a surprise. I had passed this place several times in my life. I decided to visit while in the area to see the bird migration. I was sooo impressed with the detail of the displays. This really is worth a stop. Love the history of our country. This museum highlights the Lincoln highway history and the pioneers who forged through field and stream to build the west. Very worth the visit. Great gift store.Lots of fantastic paths outside. Great place to walk and stretch your legs. Pets are allowed on the trails.

Donna T — Google review

We didn't have a lot of time, so we just took some pictures, made a purchase in the gift shop, and left. We plan on stopping here again and spending a lot of time. It is amazing and we can't wait to visit and see everything. This is a great place to stop in your travels, and kids will love it. Bathrooms are very clean. There is an area where you can go eat some lunch under a gazebo or you can sit on the edge by the river. There are little ponds/lakes you can walk to, as well.

Donna S — Google review

Ken welcomed us in with a cheery mood and very helpful. He got us started on our self guided tour and we were also able to use a wheelchair for my mom for free so she was able to go through the tour and enjoy it. It's a must have to stop and do with the kids or your family such a great place. They also have a giftshop with really cute items to purchase.

Christine S — Google review

How cool !!! So glad we stopped in. Took about an hour and a half for us since we listened to every single recording and took it all in. We thought this was a very well done museum! Friendly and helpful people work there. It has so much interesting information and is clean and a comfortable temperature inside. It's got amazing historically accurate displays. I loved the dramatic thunderstorm and the other effects. If you love history you'll appreciate this one!!! If you don't love history you should still go to see the way it was done and look out the window to see the traffic below. That is so awesome! I encourage everyone, especially those interested in the past and those with school age kids, to stop by.

Cynthia N — Google review

We had a great time, super educational! Makes me want to learn more.Beautiful outside!Took about 90 min to go through the museum. 50 different major points to hear.

Brooke E — Google review

There is a pretty hike, some historical items to check out, and a gift shop to visit for free. The gift shop has lots of Nebraska souvenirs, locally made items, and snacks. There is an admission fee to go upstairs to see the museum and admire the view over the interstate. However, it is a reasonably fun thing to do on a family road trip. There is also an area that can be used as an events center.**we were disappointed to find the maze is gone.

Sandra K — Google review

There was a lot more to see here than anticipated. Leave yourself plenty of time to explore the exhibits. There's more than an hour of audio clips you can listen to as you move through and lots to look at.

Leona D — Google review

Cute little treat. A smaller museum with dialogued stories for each exhibit which makes the experience entertaining per individual. Examine and hear each exhibit your way. The gift shop or trading post is classic. The staff is exceptionally nice and knowledgeable.

Tammy A — Google review

This is a really cool museum and covers so much history that took place within the area. This is a must when passing through! The whole arch is a two story museum and you use this handheld speaker that you point at signs to listen to stories and information about the exhibits, super cool concept.

Noah M — Google review

Really interesting roadside museum appropriately straddling the old Great Platte River Road. The attractions inside effectively blend technology--self-guided audio tour, cool light effects, historical information, and nostalgic Americana to give great perspective and appreciation of the pioneers and their successors, right up to modern times, that have traveled across the Great Plains amid hardships while chasing their dreams.

Joel S — Google review

A wonderful experience to learn the history of the Oregon trail. When buying a ticket, they give you a handheld device that you carry and hold up to your ear. It gives you a running commentary of each exhibit, told in first person voices. From the early wagon trains to the railroad, to modern times, it is like living the adventure. Great lifelike exhibits!

Linda O — Google review

Soo, worth the stop. Past by a few times. Figured it would cost a lot. Not true. Very realistic imagery. Will keep the attention of children and adults alike.

Cynthia W — Google review

It will not keep the attention of children. I pushed through but it wasn't very enjoyable. The information was very good. There must be a better delivery method.

James H — Google review

Stopped on a whim. Super glad we did. I really enjoyed this museum. Honestly, I had no idea it was a museum! 😂We highly recommend visiting. Very educational regarding the history of this region.

Larry N — Google review

Very nice place to stop and see part of history. Also great place for a bike ride or hike along many trails.

Patricia P — Google review

What a neat place!!! You will tour the museum with a handheld radio and listen to a story being told. I preferred to read about everything vs listening. I was truly amazed: this place exceeded my expectations. We will follow the trail of the settlers coming west up into the 1960’s. The characters are truly human like!!! The displays are amazing and well done. We really enjoyed spending the morning here.

Rowse's 1+1 Ranch

Dude ranch

Ranches

What an AWESOME experience! This is truly a working ranch. Everyday is spent on horseback, riding the range doing the chores, checking cattle, pastures, and herding cattle across this beautiful countryside. During my stay, we rode every day, and spent a couple days moving and cutting cattle. Jerry is a very patient boss, teaching me what I needed to know regarding my horse, the cattle, and the way things are done on the ranch. I had no prior horse riding experience, but he taught me so much, I decided to extend my stay, and am very glad I did. I had the same horse all week (a beautiful Palomino), so we really got in sync after a couple days. Tammy, while being an absolute TERRIFIC cook and hostess, was so warm and friendly, teaching me the little things about riding, saddling, horse care, and how to “read” my horse. The other quests during my stay were, literally, from across the world! Great mix of people. All in all, a great vacation, which proved I’m never too old (at 68) to experience something new. If you are looking for a unique experience, this is the place.

Robert — Google review

Our visit to Rowse’s 1+1 Ranch in Burwell, NE was such an amazing experience! The Ranch offers wonderful accommodations- the guest cabins are very well appointed, comfortable, and welcoming. The property is beautiful and all activities fun, educational and exciting. Tammy and Jerry are just the most warm, genuine, and hard-working people you will ever meet. We savored every bite of Tammy’s delicious meals prepared with meats and produce from the Ranch and cherish all the memories our family made during our visit. If you ever find yourself on a road trip through the great state of Nebraska or looking for a fun destination- look up Rowse’s 1+1 Ranch and look no further! We are already making plans for or next visit!

Mira L — Google review

this place combines everything you can hear from a place of recreation: silence, nature, close contact with the animals of the ranch, riding with exceptional horses, entering the life of a ranch. It also has the affection of the owners, and the exquisite meals prepared by Tammy. And to all this and more add the price that is very cheap for the quality it has. If you want to live the life of the west visit this ranch as its name indicates it is 1 plus 1 and much more

SILVIA Z — Google review

This is a real cowboy experiance so if your looking forward to a real working ranch be prepared to participate. You 'll never encounter nicer hosts than Tammy & Jerry and after a day you'll feel like part of the family. Best time will be had by all.

T P — Google review

Tammy and Jerry are wonderful people. The cabins are beautiful, cozy and have heating and air conditioning. The cooking is sooo delicious and there is more than enough to eat. This is my first experience on a ranch and I am loving every minute of it. I have heard other guests here say they tried other ranches before coming here but this was by far the best experience they had. I will most likely be back many times and I'm certain I will not want to go anywhere else. What a fantastic experience. If there was a way to rate higher than five stars I would!

Kathryn N — Google review

Best hosts, Tammy and Jerry took really good care of my girls and I. Jerry is a real cowboy and took time to work with you. We began the week herding cattle and everyday was exciting. No Name was an EXCELLENT horse! Thank you for everything and most importantly your friendship!

Larry H — Google review

If you want an actual working ranch vacation, this is the place! The Rowse family are incredibly welcoming and will help you experience the ranch life as it actually is. Prior horse experience highly suggested, but they will make sure you are safe. The land is beautiful. The accommodations and food are top flight! One of the best experiences I have ever had! I was sad to leave my horse for the week behind. I cant say anything but POSITIVES about Tammy and Jerry Rowse, family, hands and the 1+1 Ranch. ❤

Renee S — Google review

I can’t say enough about my time at the ranch! They made you feel right at home and the food was absolutely delicious (unexpected perk)!!I really enjoyed riding through pastures- no nose to tail experience here! Absolutely a wonderful experience! I’ll definitely be coming back!

I stayed a week at the ranch and had a great time. Good horse's, good food and comfortable rooms. The best part is that Tammy and Jerry will answer any questions about running a "real" ranch. Some of the best steak you could hope to eat.

Compact cabin & former station used by Pony Express mail carriers with a gift shop, open seasonally.

Love the history and display of genuine artifacts inside the Pony Express building.Interesting info; inside is a desk or counter where you can buy things. But take a look at the counter top. I now wish I would have taken a picture, but under the glass top are almost 4,000 pennies, all the Lincoln heads are up and facing the same direction. The use of shiny and tarnished heads are placed so perfectly to spell out a phrase...It's worth the trip to see this history and while doing it, see what all the pennies spell out.

Ronald P — Google review

I made it. A bucket list place. Our American heritage and historical memories can be of good things, like the Pony Express. The first original station, standing there since 1854. How far out is that! Glad we stopped and soaked up history. Because, it is my history.

Ray S — Google review

It is closed October to May. So i didn't go inside. It is a cool structure and had a few details about the building and history. Otherwise a quant Midwest park with a historic landmark on one end.

Michael H — Google review

Fun clean area to see a little bit of American history. Clerk was very knowledgeable. And I have to post a picture of the poppies that were across the street. They were the biggest I have ever seen.

Julee B — Google review

An interesting living history. The ambitious business of Pony Express to provide a coast to coast mail service was short-lived after telegraph lines were laid. With the astronomical cost of $5 (remember it was in 1860), the postal service was exclusively catered to government business through which the Union and Confederacy competed to obtain the support of California. The cabin that houses the museum is a reconstructed Pony Express station, one of the many where mail riders were supplied with fresh horses, each being roughly 10 miles apart.

LS F — Google review

November 29, 2021Excellent preserved presentation of this important short lived station. It's always a good day when my exploring leads to learning more history.

What a nice little stop just off I-80! This is a beautiful example of a typical pony express depot, moved here from another location a few miles west. It was closed when we stopped by, but you can still see it from the outside no problem, since it's a town park. Great place to stretch your legs and get into the western feel, especially if you're driving west.

Andris V — Google review

Grounds are meticulously maintained and the site is welcoming even after hours. Good information and welcoming town is interesting and the people are proud of their heritage. Easy to get to with good city infrastructure.

Kathleen F — Google review

We had visited the museum in St. Joseph where the Pony Express began, and this was one of the stops on the long path westward. We stopped for a short time to take in the sights and look the place over. The local volunteers were informative and nice. The place was clean and well kept. Not much for small children probably but for a couple of adults looking for an excuse to get out of the car it was fine.

Excellent stop to experience a piece of short lived history. The woman who volunteered at the museum was a wealth of information and delightful to talk with. We learned a lot! We stopped as a way to stretch our legs on the long trip through Nebraska, and it turned out to be a welcomed pleasant and interesting surprise! We highly recommend taking time to stop if you're in the area or passing through .

Sue M — Google review

Great piece of history to see. Nice place to stretch your legs as well as it has been relocated to a nice park setting. The station is open with lots of memorabilia and the lady working was so nice and knowledgeable. If you are a smashed penny collector, they have three designs to pick from, or collect all three.

Tower with open-air & enclosed observation areas for viewing the sprawling rail yard below.

The facility is awesome, the entire staff is incredibly friendly and helpful, and Mick, the 42-year Union Pacific veteran (and fellow Army veteran) who was up in the tower the day I visited was incredibly insightful and a wealth of knowledge about railroading in general and the Union Pacific specifically. One word of warning, when you research the tower online you get many results that say it is closed Fridays and Saturdays when that is not true at all. The facility is open 7 days a week, but call in advance to make sure it's open when you plan to visit. I only had about an hour and a half that I could stay, but I could have easily spent one or two full days viewing and mostly talking to the the people who spent their lives working for their railroad.

Joseph C — Google review

A really neat experience, at the largest train depot, if you like trains, shipping, or processes. For a relatively low fee you can watch from an 8 story tower the operations across 212 tracks, 8 miles long and 2 miles wide. The processing depot for 135 trains a day head d between the Pacific and east of the Mississippi. The best part was the guide explaining everything and answering all of the questions. Also watching the gravity driven train car sorting over the east and west humps was really neat. Not for everyone, but those who find this intriguing, will likely love it.

Ted O — Google review

This stop turned into an unbelievable adventure. Railroad fans will love it. The gift shop is full of interesting buys but the turn adventure is the observation tower. The views are amazing and seeing the train yard in action is really interesting. Also, as you get off the elevator, to the right is a video about orphan trains bringing children from NYC to the Midwest for possible adoption. Amazing and sad story. Visiting the tower is well worth it!

It's a neat little place to see all the train lines and how they meet. The admission price though is a bit much for what you get--an elevator ride to a viewing area and a gift shop. The bathrooms are very clean which is a bonus.

That a cool experience. It was fun to get a birds eye view of the world's largest rail yard. It was especially interesting to watch them change the switches and organize the train cars. The little museum in the tower was educational and interesting as well.

What an awesome view! The train switching yards were very cool, and finding out that the trains were remotely controlled was fascinating.Even the dog enjoyed it!! It's very pet friendly, they even have a bowl of dog treats near the door.

It is absolutely fascinating and impressive. The volunteer who was answering our questions was top-notch and very friendly. He had worked there for many years and had some great stories to share! You definitely need to take the time to visit this unique and historical place. Highly recommended 👌

Fascinating vantage over the world's largest rail classification yard. I grew up hearing of the massive yard in North Platte, but hadn't visited it--despite driving past the town several times--until recently. The visitors' center is nice, and has rooms with artifacts and a video, as well as a gift shop area. The restrooms were nice and clean.Up in the tower, you may choose the outdoor observation platform or the indoor viewing area. A volunteer docent (a former UP employee who worked in the yard for many years) offered commentary as to what we were seeing in the yard, and adeptly answered visitors' questions. The indoor observation level has signs and displays on aspects of the yard, as well as the UP's history.Anyone interested in railroads should stop here; the sheer scale of the yard (over eight miles long) is literally too much to see, even from an eight-story tower, but the elevated perspective gives you a much better idea of the yard's scale, as well as the many things taking place there.

After driving hours on open highway across the plains of Nebraska, this is a great and fun stop! The Golden Spike Tower has an awesome viewpoint over one of the largest rail yards in the world! It’s not too expensive to enter, and you have plenty of placards and articles to read up on the history of this place. Pretty neat artifacts as well, including the real “Golden Spike”!Even if you’re not interested in trains, railroads, or anything of the sort, I do think it’s worth visiting. After all, where else are you going to find an overlook of the surrounding terrain in this part of the country? Nebraska is very flat out here and it’s nice to get an aerial view every once in a while! However, on a clear day, you can see the Sand Hills in the distance! They’re evidence that Nebraska does indeed have hills - contrary to what the internet might claim! All in all, I think the Golden Spike Tower is a great attraction. You learn a lot, you get a great view, and you have knowledgeable staff. That’s all you can ask for!

Our recent trip to North Platte was all about cranes and trains. :) This was a very cool place and we learned a lot about how trains operate. The volunteer was very informative and a real bonus. Bring some good binoculars or a nice zoom lens because there is a lot to see.

What an interesting surprise! We enjoyed seeing the largest railroad yard, learning about how it works, and meeting the docent, Ben, who is retired from the RR, but patiently answered our questions. Thank you, Ben! It's fascinating how much logistics go into that mode of transportation from the past and even still in the present. We also learned about the North Platte Canteen and the Orphan Trains...you just never know what you'll learn!

For a train fan, this is the place to visit. We attended during Rail Road days and enjoyed a Bailey Yard tour. The tower gives a great view of the Bailey Yard as well as the surrounding area. We were able to watch a storm arrive from the west. There are information boards about the local history. The gift shop does have interesting and unique items.I highly recommend for train fans and plan to spend some time to be able to watch the yard operations.

Expansive recreational lake offering beaches, boat ramps, campgrounds, fishing spots & restaurants.

This place is awesome! Never seen anything quite like it. The beach is HUGE with a ton of different bay areas. It was neat you could drive on the beach, although I did not as I do not have 4wd. There were some cars on the beach, did see one get stuck and have to get pulled out. The water was clean. Although I personally wore water-shoes cause there were a lot of sticks and stuff. Remember to clean up after yourself! Did pick up some trash around me.Instagram: AdventuresZenFacebook: ZenAdventures

I've been to Lake Mac for a number of years now but my Wife's side has been going since the 80s. There is a lot to love about this place. Sand is soft, water is nice, camp on the beach and have campfires, plenty of room on the lake to bring a boat or Jet Ski. Plenty of fun and relaxing time to be had.

Russell M — Google review

Lake Mac is beautiful. We were on beach #9 with our doggos. They loved swimming with us. There are people on boats and jet skiis. There are tons of places to camp if you want to stay overnight. We come here during the winter and my kids/boyfriend will walk on the ice. There are some spots you can hike on as well. During the summer we love kayaking with the dogs. We've had bonfires and breakfast at the lake too.For anyone looking to get a hike in before a swim this is a good place to go.

Audrey V — Google review

We camped for three days and two nights, and loved the place. Be careful with the weather change from 6 to 9 pm. The wind can take everything away. Bring the v (yellow plastic or orange metal) stakes. The sand is wet enough to give nice anchoring, but the regular stakes won’t hold your tent. The lake can get super chopped during hard winds, but at any other time, is it amazing for paddling. The water temperature is always good. Never as cold as The waters in Boulder. If you’re coming driving your SUV, don’t ever stop. Lock the AWD and keep moving. If you stop, you’re dead. You will definitely have to be pulled out by a tractor. No shadow whatsoever, so bring plenty of shade. No flies at any moment, but mosquitos swarm during night time wherever there’s a light.

Daniel C — Google review

Not that great unless you fish or like beach camping. Low water levels. Enjoyed driving on beach. Be cautious.

David B — Google review

Always have a great time out here! Lake is a bit low this year but the beaches are even bigger. If you have the chance make your way up to LeMoyne and check out Admiral's Cove Restaurant and Bar. They also have lodging. Otter Creek Lodge up the road is a great place for breakfast as well. Nothing beats the white sand beaches!

Randy S — Google review

Love this lake! We go every summer and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Word of warning if you stay on the beach the hours of quiet time are not enforced so loud neighbors are no joke. Only complaint, otherwise will still be there every summer...just moving away from any kind of neighbors.

Amy M — Google review

This is our new annual gem.I was looking for a new camping area since we have explored so much of CO WY NM KS UT and somehow stumbled upon this must go to lake.I have always dreamed of this but thought I'd have to travel across the world to do this, but we drove on the sand, camped and even made a fire all on the beach. Every day all we did was wake up and walk right to the water and play on all the different beach areas. Its quiet, clean and pretty. The people/local businesses were kind and friendly. Stop by Admirals Cove.It was one of the best trips we have ever gone on and we have traveled the world. It was only hours away. Just goes to show you don't have to go far or spend a lot of money to have an awesome time.We can't wait to go back.

D W — Google review

By far the best place to spend quality time with large groups of friends, plenty of shade and sand. We go there every year for the last 20 years now. just remember to leave only your footprints

Leandro L — Google review

Anytime you can drive onto the beach it’s a great time. Certain areas the sand is hard and cars were driving down no problems. If you wanna enter from less obvious locations you will need 4WD but no need to air down. However I didn’t go exploring either. This is an excellent location but the beach needs to be cleaned. A lot of broken glass and litter. I can see how things could get dangerous on the weekends or holidays with people partying and what not. I arrived on a Monday afternoon and wasn’t bad at all.

The S — Google review

Beautiful lake with a lot of things to do around, so many campsite available, you can camp right on the beach. The view is amazing, water is clean. The reason I’m not giving 5 stars because we didn’t sleep well at night, so drunk campers were camping at night, they were super loud and played with the fireworks in the campfire until early morning.

Dev R — Google review

Nebraska's largest reservoir is a summer time playground in the Midwest. Surrounded by farms, and close (20min) to the town of Ogalla, you will find a lake that allows people to park their cars, campers, and boats on the beach. Be forewarned you will need to arrange a tow with the locals to get most campers on the beach due to the sandy access that you have to drive through. I strongly advise front and rear wheel drives park at the entrance to the beach and walk down. 4WD is a must and clearance is needed. Once there you will find friendly people enjoying sandy beaches and bottoms, mild water temps, and great fishing. They allow most water sports including kite boarding. Respect this resource and please haul everything out that you brought in. Enjoy the water!

Eric P — Google review

Where do you start? We LOVE THIS PLACE!! A short 4 hr drive from our home and we feel like we have reached our vacation destination. The white sand & clean water make for a relaxing time to enjoy watersports. Everyone is friendly & it feels like they are really enjoying the lake life! Our family has been coming here for years and each time is better than the last. We have Big Mac Marina pull our trailer to the beach and spend a week playing in the sand and enjoying the amazing sunsets. I used to hear about this place and couldn't believe the amazing environment until I saw it myself!! If you are looking to get away and play in the water- this is the place to go!

Sights & Landmarks

Agate Fossil Beds National Monument is a hidden gem located in Northwestern Nebraska, offering visitors a glimpse into the rich history of the area. The park's visitors center showcases fossilized bones of ancient mammals that lived some 20 million years ago, when this region was akin to Africa's Serengeti today. The site offers two trails leading to past excavation sites and displays detailing ongoing finds.

Excellent, little known park service site in Northwestern Nebraska. Great visitor center with fossil exhibits and James Cook collection of Native American artifacts. Very helpful staff as well. Two trails to past excavation sites. Along with paleontology and geology, a lot of history here as well.

T M — Google review

Wasn’t my favorite NP unit. Just two trails and a decent museum. The ranger in charge when we visited deserves 5 stars though. He was great!

Justin L — Google review

So it’s pretty far away from anything, but the hiking and camping nearby is great! I liked seeing the ancient beaver dens! The visitors center is very well outfitted for the middle of nowhere as well. Overall, worth a visit I’d say.

Henry M — Google review

Not a very exciting site.Unfortunately, visitors were not welcome unless they put a breathing barrier on. So we did not get to view the inside save for the immediate area door to desk.Outdoors consists of 2 trails. 1 and 2 mile hikes to fossils. They are different in that they're not dinosaurs but prehistoric mammals.

Adam V — Google review

This is a great national monument that is a little further than Scotts Bluff (from I-80), but well worth the extra drive. It was uncrowded the day I visited. The interpretive center has some great displays, and the staff is very helpful and friendly. Mammal skeletons from the Miocene include a Beardog in a large display that is sure to delight kids and adults. Artifacts from the Lakota Sioux and Chief Red Cloud occupy another couple of rooms and are worth taking your time to absorb the artistry and meaning behind them. A couple of hiking trails round out the highlights of this national monument.

Tim — Google review

During our trip out West, we stopped at the Agate Fossil Beds National Monument. We’re really glad that we spent the day there. The setting and accessible trails are beautiful and the displays in the visitor’s center are very informative and artistically curated. We hiked both trails, which offer outstanding panoramic views. The story of friendship between the rancher and Red Cloud is so uplifting and an important part of our history. We love paleontology, so the scientific explanations of the mammalian fossil beds were meaningful. The entire site evokes a spirit of tranquility and wonder about the passage of time and natural history. The monument is excellent for all ages. The staff is helpful and the restrooms are very clean and accessible. This place is definitely worth a visit.

Constance S — Google review

This national monument is beautiful! For nature lovers there are two trails that go through the park, one is a mile and the other is about 3 miles long. The visitor center has many excellent exhibits on fossils and local Native American tribes, and overall it is worth visiting for the scenery alone.

Jacob H — Google review

Wide open spaces in the middle of big sky ranch land. Great walking trail to some fossil beds. Nobody in sight except the park ranger at the station.

Marco I — Google review

Go for the fossils and accessible hikes, BUT do NOT miss the story of the long-term friendship between John Cook and Chief Red Cloud. The Cook Collection deserves so much time, Make sure you check out the herbarium to learn more about the native plants as well.

Amy B — Google review

I spent a full day hiking this wonderful land this past May and found it amazing. The sheer size of it, and the lack of many trees makes it seem almost other worldly and I love the history of the area. I loved the cabin and tried to imagine how it would have been to have lived out there before the area became a National Park.

Jim H — Google review

Lovely national monument and museum. Great mammal fossils to see. Rangers were very friendly and informative. Parking for RVs available and dog friendly

Incredible location and fantastic staff! Very helpful and genuine. The visitors center is clean and well organized and their information was very helpful to put you in touch with the location and all it has to offer. The native exhibit was one of the most respectful and informative and well thought out to show the entire history and plight of the times. Thank you!

We drove way out of our way to visit here and it was so worth it.Not only is it a fascinating place to visit, but the people there were so nice. From the movie, to the displays, to the grounds it is a very well done site.I wish there were more places like this to visit. I am glad we went.

Enjoyed our visit last weekend! The weather was perfect for a hike so we did both trails. The trail to the fossil hills took us about an hour because we took our time and read all of the plaques and enjoyed the walk. Shorter trail took only 30 minutes and was quite enjoyable at sunset. We spent about an hour in the visitor center talking with the park ranger and enjoying the exhibits. Two of us completed our Junior ranger badge! It was a fantastic National Monument Visit and totally worth the drive.

Aurora Reservoir is a sprawling 800-acre water body offering various recreational activities such as fishing, swimming, and non-motorized boating. Visitors can enjoy paddle boarding or rent kayaks to explore the reservoir. The park also features an archery range and picnic shelters for gatherings. While it can get busy during peak times like July 4th weekend, the water is generally clean with designated swimming areas and lifeguards on duty.

This reservoir is a great place to spend time with family and friends. A group of friends and I went fishing and had a great time. Bathrooms were clean and the staff was friendly. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who is looking for a good place to spend time outside.

Michael H — Google review

As a native of Colorado, surprisingly, I've never been here. I came out for a birthday party and was pleasantly surprised by the amount of open space on the beach and throughout the park. There was plenty of parking, paved ramps leading to the beach, and not too many people swimming in the dedicated swimming area. The restrooms were clean, and so was the beach. There were several lifeguards on deck. You can also rent shaded gazebos for parties and whatnot.

Lorenzo C — Google review

My favorite place to hike and fish close to home, always clean bathrooms and trails, the rangers and staff make you feel welcome and the most amazing they will move out of the trails making sure you and your dog are safe. They take always time to answer and educate yourself about this beautiful place in Colorado.

Claude S — Google review

Great place to catch some sun. They have a beach area. You can rent paddle boards or kayaks per hour. Kayaks are $20 an hour. The time flys so keep track of your time on the water. Lots of parking. Definitely highly recommend this location to chill with family or friends. Come check it out to cool off.

Zesty Z — Google review

Busy on July 4th weekend. Water appears clean. Swimming area is small and crowded but a separate lap swimming area was available. Lifeguards were on duty. $10/vehicle to enter. Kayaks/paddle boards available to rent. Electric motor boats only. Dogs allowed on grassy area only (not on sand). Families bring tents and grills as well as speakers so expect dueling soundtracks. Bathrooms are gross but not terrible (not the worse that I’ve seen at a public beach) and only foot showers available.

Jennifer L — Google review

An incredible reservoir/beach/park that has everything you need for a great weekend beach visit (for Colorado). A purchased day pass or season pass is required to get in, but the season pass is very well priced for a whole year of access to this body of water! Went last week with our dog to learn the area and it was a great time not even getting in the water at all. This weekend we went out early to go paddle boarding/kayaking and the experience was next to none. Beautiful calm blue water and great views of Colorado that stretches for miles completes the experience of a great boating session! I anticipate many more visits here as this small little area packs a lot of fun!

I love this lake!! Been coming here since I was a little girl. Water is way cleaner than other lakes I know... it gets full but fun ambient

Aurora reservoir is good picnic place.. it has multiple picnic tables, grills.. people celebrate birthday at this place.. water is clean, lifeguards are on duty.. entry fee for non residents is 10 dollars.. restrooms are available and are maintained.. showers are available inside.. parking is adequate.. you can rent kayaks and boats..

Ashish B — Google review

I had a great time with my family. There is a beach with lifeguards. Children's playground, places for cooking meat. Everything is clean and tidy

Narine T — Google review

Fun sandy beach for a summer swim. Water in July was a little cool but perfectly swimmable. There's a playground for little ones and separated shallow wading area, swimming lanes, and boat area.

Scott W — Google review

The reservoir is a staple in the community. I was a little surprised to see that they raised the weekend price to 15$ instead of the standard 10$ no matter the day. regardless we took our paddle board, our kayaks, canoes and dog to the beach. Dogs are allowed as long as they stay on the opposite side of the white fence ( not on the actual beach) but it’s still pretty close to the water line where we were swimming/using the water products. There is many people on the water using kayaks and canoes, the same rules stand that only electric motors are allowed , nothing with gas or chemicals like that. Good to know that they continue to care for the well being of the water quality. The quality of the bathrooms were also quite nice. Very clean and multiples stalls available. Very nice place to spend the day with family and friends.

A definite respet from the daily grind. Quiet and quant during the week. Lively and happening on weekends. The lake is amazing... especially without motorized boats... a very tranquil experience paddle boarding. Great picnic places and a beautiful walking trail around the lake.

Gita P — Google review

The stunning lake boasts crystal clear water free from gas motors, making it the perfect spot to catch a glimpse of a giant rainbow trout. With two state fish records already under its belt, it's only a matter of time before this becomes a gold medal fishing spot. The eight-mile loop surrounding the lake offers breathtaking views of the natural surroundings and a plethora of wildlife sightings. Keep an eye out for deer, antelope, coyotes, snakes, bald eagles, and a variety of fascinating water birds that call this area home. Each moment spent exploring this beautiful landscape is sure to be unforgettable.

Absolutely the best place to go!! It wasn't crowded at all. The water levels where low but what can you expect when there hasn't been any rain. The beach was clean and there was life guards and park rangers on duty. Everyone was having a good time.Glad I found this place.

Historic site with a visitor center offers audio tours of the military post plus outdoor activities.

From the parking lot, head up to the left to find the signs and the visitors center. Stop in there first before touring to get maps, Junior Ranger booklets and more! Some houses look closed but the doors are hidden around back so be sure to walk all the way around buildings!Great picnic area right by the very clean latrines near the parking lot.We had a great time!(don't miss the Iron Bridge on your way back out)

This historical site has been restored and some areas and well-maintained. There is a film in the visitor center and interesting displays in there. The great thing about this historical site is that you can actually walk in and see inside the buildings. That is not the case in so many areas these days. The stories still make me sad but it's our history of the pain and suffering we caused.😢

Diane L — Google review

Awesome stop! It is amazing how military bases have not changed much since over 100 years ago! It was amazing to see the artifacts, ruins, and inside some of the buildings. The buildings still standing are amazing! I loved seeing this piece of US history in person.

Koa-Marie T — Google review

Visited as a toddler, returned as an adult. An important piece of history, glad we made the stop on our road trip. Very well preserved, great displays, good demonstrations by rangers and a good gift shop too. Recommend

Sam M — Google review

Awesome visit with Park Rangers made the experience memorable. The bugler at hourly intervals adds so much to the experience. One of the best historically preserved Forts in the country. All the buildings were open and furnished with furniture and decor of the era.

TC C — Google review

Guided tour from Ranger Casey was top notch for the junior ranger boy scouts and cub scouts.

This a pretty cool fort to stop at and learn its history. Surprisingly a lot to do here. Be sure to bring $2 cash for root beer bottles...

Interesting place, I wish that I had more time to explore this place, ii plan on going back when I have several hours to spend there.

Amazing place of American history! The Western expansion wouldn’t be possible had it not been for this place and the many brave souls that fought to defend and protect the settlers.

Was a great experience and knowledgeable visit. We were greeted by a worker dressed in the old military attire, who offered to let us get a photo of him with my grandkids. Very clean and organized.

This is a very informative site that has amazing pieces of history preserved. I especially appreciated the grave they have taken care of over the years. They have a great walking trail as well, highly recommend it.

Nicely preserved history. Some buildings were restored; others are left as ruins. It's a good balance. Lots of great information. Friendly folks. I was lucky enough to get there while the entrance was free! Well worth a visit. Plan on 1.5 hours

Pretty nice historical site. We were there on a day with folks done up in historical period clothing to interact with. Nice and cold a/c...a gift shop. I enjoyed my time there.

Science museum

The Denver Museum of Nature and Science is a museum dedicated to the natural world with IMAX films, rotating exhibits, and more. The museum has separate exhibitions for children and adults, as well as an IMAX theater.

A friend suggested this place since we have younger children (8 and 5). They absolutely loved it and didn’t want to leave! It’s a three story museum with multiple exhibits. My kids loved the space one exhibit and the ancient history (dinosaur) the most. We went to the second floor to the discovery zone where the kids got to do all sorts of hands on activities. It is definitely an experience for children and adults! I would definitely recommend it.

Lucas M — Google review

Brought my grandfather here after some convincing him to get out of the house after my grandma died. He’s been very isolated so I thought the science museum would be a fun family outing. I even surprise bought tickets to the Egypt exhibit. My grandfather was super tickled pink when I brought him here. The first place I brought him was the Egypt exhibit. He LOVED it!!! He was so excited about the exhibit, consistently pulling me over to the exhibit in Egypt he was looking at. He would talk about it and give me little facts he knew. He overall had a fantastic time. We went through almost every exhibit but the planetarium. It was worth every single penny to see my grandpa smile the way he did in such a long time. It was very educational to both of us. If you want something super cool and learn, come here. There is also tons of stuff for kids to adults to do. Their exhibits are super educational and so much to see and look at. If I lived in Denver I’d definitely come back more to see the planetarium and other new exhibits this place offered.

We were vacationing with our 5-year old in Denver. After visiting the Children’s Museum the day before, we were pleasantly surprised to find the Denver Museum of Nature & Science was MORE fun and engaging for kids. This was the opposite of a “don’t touch” museum. There were so many exhibits for her to engage with and things to do. (And lots of fascinating information and exhibits for parents, too.) Absolutely a great family-friendly museum to visit. We used CityPass tickets to make our museum visit even more affordable.

Lisa D — Google review

This is a pretty nice museum. There is a ton of taxidermy though which takes up a lot of real estate, and I'd rather see other things. The dinosaur area is pretty neat, and their temporary guitar exhibit was cool! I'd say this museum is worth a visit.

Kasey S — Google review

Honestly, five stars is not enough for the value of this museum. It is so packed with great exhibits that it really requires multiple trips to appreciate fully. Great for families. Dinosaurs, mummies, wildlife, gems and minerals, theaters for films, and much more. Something for everyone. I keep going back and always see things I missed the time before. Don't try to see it all in one visit-impossible. But if you only have one opportunity to see it, plan for several hours.

Lisa S — Google review

Denver Museum of Nature and Science is a must-visit attraction for anyone visiting or living in the area. With fascinating exhibits, educational content, and engaging activities, it offers a memorable experience for visitors of all ages. From dinosaurs to space exploration, the museum covers a wide range of scientific topics, providing a perfect blend of entertainment and learning. Don't miss out on this enriching and enjoyable destination!

Kwesi A — Google review

We came here for a summer vacation from Frisco TX. And we are happy that we went to the museum. The museum is very engaging, informative, and big for all ages. We almost spent 4-5 hours in the museum and also went to the planetary science movie, which is around 25 minutes and it was amazing. And if you talk about price, it’s not that pricey and worth to visiting. Totally recommended 👍🏻

Parul S — Google review

The staff at this museum are helpful and accommodating. They are the nicest folks. I was walking across downtown Denver with a large backpack when I stopped in, and the security staff helped me secure the pack safely so I could enjoy the museum. The front desk staff were also up front about the different types of discount admission available. The museum content is world class.

Cannot wait to go back! My daughter and I went on a FREE day and yes it was crowded but not to a point that I wouldn’t do it again. Stunning Dinosaur Exhibit and watching the Archaeological Work in action was fascinating. We saw the Living Color exhibit and we both had so much fun. Lots of interaction for all age and ability groups. We had to leave and missed the other exhibit but again, we both can’t wait to go back.

Took the kids for 'free day' on Juneteenth and though it was pretty crowded it was still very nice. Free stroller rental helped carry heavy bags & kids. Staff have a friendly approach & are very helpful. Not a long wait for elevators (strollers not allowed on escalators). Favorite area is hard to pick as there are several good ones. My kids love this place. We'll definitely be back for another visit (& not just on 'free days & nights'). 😉

Deana N — Google review

We take our toddlers a few times a month, and they love running around the different exhibits. The Discover Zone is usually our final stop (they usually get wet w the water table), but the Space area is top notch. The planetarium is a nice treat. Very thoughtfully curated Museum to stimulate learning.

Jason S — Google review

They have free days so make sure to check their website for those days. You can reserve timed tickets online to ensure you get a spot, but it wasn’t packed when I went. The museum exhibits are on three stories, but there is also a fourth floor that gives access to a balcony with a great view of the Denver skyline. There’s a great gem and mineral exhibit with a lot of things found here in Colorado.A lot of things are geared towards children, but it’s interesting for adults and would be a nice date night.

Went on a whim because we had a few hours to kill. We have a reciprocal pass from our local museum so that was awesome (we were going either way). Tons of energy and kids there when we went. Was so great to see everyone so happy. For our 3 year old it was perfect. (Let her walk a ton and get tired). For us adults not a ton of different things compared to other science museums in big cities except for the huge rock collection they have on the first floor. Overall very easy to get in and out and free parking (can’t say the same for Dallas)

Collin L — Google review

Firstly set aside 3+ hours to see this monstrosity of education and growth. See I always recommend getting the City pass so you can stroll in and get your QR code scanned and proceed to be amazed. So many exhibits and collections to see. Would come back. The temporary showroom I saw was “BUGS” I really enjoyed the planetarium. Gift shop is great and workers were smiley and helpful.

Great place to visit with family and alone. Kids loved it, 3 floor full off beautiful artifacts. Kids loved that health and science part and my favorite is wild animals. They have an amazing gem stones with lots to history attached to it. Took almost 4 hours to complete the whole thing ( without special event ). Free parking open and garage they even had free EV charging stations. A must place to visit.

Ragu N — Google review

Went to the museum on free museum day, and although it was busy, it was a great experience. It's right across the street from a city bus, so it's pretty easy to get to. There are elevators, if you are in a wheelchair, and escalators if you prefer that. However, the dining situation is a tad bit confusing. Overall, it's a really interesting place to visit.

Jonah S — Google review

We had a fun time at DMNS exploring the exhibits about dinosaurs and mummies and the kids played in the Discovery Zone. The kids, ages 7 and 10, got a kick out of riding the escalators and seeing how they work from the display on the side. Cleaning sand and dirt off of "fossils" in the Prehistoric Journey (dinosaurs and early mammals) exhibit was a big hit for them. Plus, we got a family membership today, so many more visits are on the agenda.

Jenni G — Google review

This museum is very informative and large. I recommend buying tickets in advance for easy access, but it is not required. There is so much to see and do. I would plan a whole day to see this entire museum. We had a great time.

MsKrayola — Google review

This museum is full of history, science and great interesting pieces. My favorite was def the dinosaur area since I grew up loving them. They even have a sight where the excavate new fossils! It’s super cool to check out. There’s several floors and it takes about 2-3 hours to see everything so take your time!

CAMI F — Google review

Great exhibits that will take you many trips to truly see them all. They honored Juneteenth by letting everyone in for free and having booths, activities, and information pertaining to the day. Parking is free in their lot but fills up quickly. They have general admissions and memberships with perks.

Keeley D — Google review

This place is massive, with so many cool exhibits to explore. My husband and I had a great time checking out the animals from Australia, the mummies, and the dinosaurs. 🦖

Justine B — Google review

Denver's Museum of Nature and Science is truly exceptional! From captivating exhibits on outer space, flora, and fauna to immersive journeys through Ancient Egypt, complete with fascinating mummies, and thrilling encounters with dinosaurs and prehistoric earth, this museum has redefined the very essence of what a museum should be. I never imagined a museum could be this cool and engaging! A must-visit for anyone seeking an awe-inspiring adventure in history and science.

Tony — Google review

First time visiting Denver, and my family and I loved it! Three floors of interactive fun, with some exhibits you have to pay extra for. Did not get a chance to go into the gift shop, but we'll be back for the other exhibits like the planetarium and orca exhibit. My kids had fun, they have areas for small kids and areas for bigger kids.Recommendation: There should be an employee in the Astrotots area as there should only be babies in that area, not kids over 3 years old as they like to run through and ruin the fun for the littles.

Teory E — Google review

It's always such a treat coming to the Museum! Plenty to explore along with rotating temporary exhibits and films to enjoy. Plus, I've been loving their new pork bao buns!

Nicole M — Google review

Pretty great museum. There are a lot of cool things to see and a huge variety as well. The place is definitely kid oriented with tons of stuff to keep them entertained, but it is fun for adults as well. I especially liked the space area and the Colorado geology section as well. Tickets are a bit pricey but not terrible.

Mason K — Google review

My husband and I went here for a date day and it was a lot of fun to learn new things about Colorado, animals, the world and lots of dinosaurs! The prehistoric journey was one of our favorite areas to explore in the museum. Can be very busy (parking can take a little bit of time if you arrive in the middle of the day) but still super worth it!

Arti P — Google review

Seriously so cool! It's even better than I remember as a kid. We spent hours there trying to see it all. My only wish was that the Egyptian exhibit was bigger (Egypt is my favorite!)

Christa M — Google review

What an amazing place to explore and learn. Multiple visits are required to see it all. There was everything from rocks to mummies. We also saw an i max movie. Much space and planet exhibits that were entertaining as well as educational.

Jeffrey B — Google review

Great place for the whole family, plan on like 4 to 6 hrs, unless you have a membership. Had a great time from 10am tol 3pm. There was food available, we packed our own lunch and got drinks there. Staff was very nice and helpful, and the "color" exhibit was covered in the price of a general admission ticket. Would recomend to everyone, and will come by again if in Denver.

Howard P — Google review

Amazing! Incredible Gemstone and Mineral exhibit! Also enjoyed Wildlife and the Egyptian Mummy exhibit. To see animals preserved and gifted from over 100 years ago along with the minerals and stones speak to the importance of history preservation. Mummies 2400;2900 years ago- unreal. Thank you so much!

Nancy C — Google review

This place was great. The only reason I have it four stars is the parking. Traffic was horrible but of course it was free day. It's probably not like that in a normal day. That being said, free day is a great way for families struggling with money to see some good educational exhibits. Each area on display was very detailed and had great history lessons to go with it. It highly recommend a visit

Shawn — Google review

Customer service has been great every time. My partner and I did the membership to visit often and it’s already paid for itself with only a few visits. Plus we haven’t seen everything yet. Friday evenings are a great time to go as it’s quiet. Excited for the upcoming poison exhibit as well as the orcas before they leave.

Alex S — Google review

I took my kids it was only $1 each to go with my EBT card. Totally fun. They always have good learning exhibits. We didn't have to wait in line. We went around 3pm. They close at 5 so not enough time to do it all. Next time we will go earlier. Love that they had lockers. It was so cold that we had our coats but didn't want to carry them so we used a locker. Also the gift shop is always fun. A little pricey on things though. But all in all a great time.

Steph K — Google review

It’s a cool place to bring kids to, there is a lot to see and fun immersive activities to engage in throughout the whole place.I would’ve liked to see a bit more STEAM related stuff, like at OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry).I was a bit shocked to see so much taxidermy animals, at times it felt excessive and jarring, especially when you see the large animals, the baby animals and multiples of the same animal, and it’s just a lot of animals. Don’t take a shot every time I typed the word animals. It’s a bit intense— Vegans Beware! lolI guess I just didn’t know what to expect. It was still a neat experience but not sure if I would go again unless I’m chaperoning for a field trip.

Zoo

Zoos & Aquariums

The Denver Zoo is a vast and sprawling facility with exhibits, animal demonstrations, and shopping venues. Among its many attractions are animals from all over the world, including primates, pachyderms, carnivores, reptiles, birds, and fish. The zoo is well-known for its educational programming and conservation efforts to help save wildlife in the wild.

The Denver Zoo is one of the best zoos I've been to. I would give it third place - behind only San Diego & the National Zoo. It's a very big zoo for being right in the city, with easy access from downtown and 25. Admission is incredibly reasonable and is a better deal than the aquarium. The enclosures are great and the animals seem very well cared for. We did a "behind the scenes" with birds of pretty and it was excellent! Tons of great information the keepers were amazing and clearly loved the animals they work with.100% recommend it!

Rebekah M — Google review

It's been a few years since we have been to this zoo. Not much has changed. But, there are a lot of closed exhibits because they are making some cool looking updates. I can't wait to see the kangaroo exhibit. After 5 it is $5. It's a fair price since it seems most of the animals are hiding away.

Aaron H — Google review

Very nice zoo. Great size. Not too large to walk in a few hours. Love the tiger walk overhead. The tropical house is one of the nicest I have seen. Elephant information was short but good. We were impressed with how they treat the elephants. Lots of little information booths that were in service. We have a new membership, so we will be back.

Selene K — Google review

They really like to trap you in the elephant and monkey exhibits so you can't find your way out but overall it's a fine zoo. The short and sweet elephant show was great with lots of conservation info and Jake (the elephant) did such a good job! You can tell the employees really care, for example an orangutan mommy had just given birth and they had a zookeeper there explaining everything and keeping order so all guests could see the baby. I also really liked their animal hospital and that you can observe procedures, very unique and awesome experience if something is going on. The only thing I'd wish was for more big cats :)

Erica — Google review

This is such a great zoo, we went during a colder day in late November. The inside buildings alone took us a while not to mention many great larger animals as well. As we were leaving they started turning on the lights for a separate event. We had a great time and got some good pictures and videos.

Shea S — Google review

The Denver Zoo is a must see attraction. I've been here many times and it never gets old. The kids love it. The zoo is always updating or changing the exhibits. It's a nice place to get your steps in and it's surrounded by great restaurants. The zoo lights are always amazing to see.

Alli H — Google review

Went during the week during February. Wasn’t too cold but a lot of the animals were inside, but did get to see almost all of them. Some construction going on which is probably best to do during winter months. Great experience. Clean zoo.

Lindsay R — Google review

Bought tickets online ahead of time (as recommended) for Memorial Day Weekend. It took us a solid 15 minutes to find parking, and it ended up being a decent walk from the entrance, so keep that in mind as you’re not supposed to show up more than 30 minutes after your entry reservation time (it might be easier on a non-holiday weekend.)Controversial opinion, but I actually preferred this zoo over the San Diego and Omaha Zoos. There was plenty of shady trees over the walking paths, so I didn’t feel like I was going to get heatstroke (unlike Omaha Zoo). It was actually pleasantly laid out and easy to navigate. As soon as you walk in, you get to see penguins and lions. There’s even viewing places to see the larger animals up close. We also enjoyed the tiger exhibit as Victor the tiger was very vocal that day. I love how they have volunteers that are knowledgeable about the animals stationed at different exhibits that are friendly and chat with you about the species but also the specific animal’s history.Otters are my favorite and I do wish their enclosure wasn’t so small, but this was a really great experience overall. Lots of benches throughout and a great value for the ticket price, especially compared to other museums in Denver. Plenty of families appeared to have brought their own food, and the weather was perfect for picnicking on the tables outside. It seemed clean, well-kept, and a great place to spend the day or bring your family.

Nicole S — Google review

The zoo was really nice! I went on a day when the weather wasn't that great (which is my fault) so a lot of the animals were kind of hiding and what not. They have a good selection of animals which for the most part look super content. They have some parts under construction and the birds were all taken if for their own safety, so O feel like I didn't get the full experience, but I would love to go back and a day where everything is normal and it's nice out.

Mallory M — Google review

our first time experiencing the Denver Zoo light show. the glasses at check in are fun! optional spiked drink options also fun! there are zoo employees on the path & they're quite helpful & friendly. there are buildings you can go in to warm up. so many interesting zoo creatures that you can see while the others are resting. we will go again! do yourself a favor & go w fun young friends we did :)

The Denver Zoo is a fantastic place to visit! With its wide variety of animals and beautiful exhibits, it offers a memorable experience for visitors of all ages. The zoo's commitment to conservation and education is evident in their efforts to provide a comfortable and natural habitat for the animals, as well as informative signage and interactive displays. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and there are plenty of opportunities for up-close encounters with the animals. Overall, the Denver Zoo is a must-visit attraction for animal lovers and families alike.

Jeff C — Google review

This is a really fun, large, and clean zoo. They have a wide variety of animals and exhibits. Being quite large, it does require a lot of walking, so wear comfortable shoes and be prepared to take breaks if you come with very young children. It was also quite hot the day we went, and while there is some shade around the zoo, you may want to prepare by bringing water and sun protection. The elephant exhibit was especially impressive. We really enjoyed this zoo and would definitely recommend it for families and anyone who enjoys seeing animals!

Robin C — Google review

We hadn’t been to the Denver zoo in a few years and I was so impressed with the transformation that has taken place. They have redeveloped multiple areas of the park to better accommodate animals and allow for close up viewing. Several areas are under reconstruction and I’m excited to see what is coming next! We had special sightings of a baby mandrill, wallabies being trained, an elephant presentation, and a baby sloth from right underneath. All staff were friendly and informative and seem to really care.

Laura R — Google review

My family travels to aquariums and zoos every chance we get. This is by far one of the BEST zoos we have visited. It is clear that the employees have a deep concern for the animals, the environment, and for conservation. They were happy to speak to all of the visitors and answers questions and offer information about the exhibits. There was much care given to ensure the safety of the animals, which included taking them off of display if it was in the animal’s best interest. This was actively communicated to the visitors through Keepers Notes. If an animal was not in it’s normal location, this was also communicated. Absolutely LOVED this zoo and highly recommend visiting it.

Jen M — Google review

100% recommend! This is a great zoo, lots to see and do, plenty of refreshment options including adult beverages. Animals appear to be well taken care of. We were really impressed and look forward to going back. Parking was easy too.

Terri M — Google review

Beautiful zoo! My toddler & I had a long layover in Denver on our way to NOLA & we decided to visit the Denver Zoo. It was very clean & well kept. My son's favorite exhibit was the penguins, they have an adorable set up. My favorite were the elephants, I've never seen so many elephants in one zoo.As recommended by the website, we ordered our tickets online, the tickets were sent to my email. We scanned the tickets & were able to enjoy the zoo quickly. I would definitely go back again! Due to the layover, we only saw maybe half of the Denver Zoo.

Monique C — Google review

This was such a cool place. It was a beautiful day and all the animals were out and active. We especially loved the elephant area as they were filing and cleaning their feet. The employee working that area gave us a great education on the Denver Zoo elephants, their habits and training. Excellent!

Andrea B — Google review

The Denver Zoo is a must do for all animal lovers living in or visiting the Denver area. You'll love the accessibility of the exhibits. The animals enjoy generous space to enjoy their natural habitats where humans have multiple vantages with ample viewing space. We recently went on a particularly busy day but never felt crowded. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. A few attractions you will want to prioritize are the recently opened Down Under exhibit (I'm intentionally not sharing to much here because I don't want to spoil the pleasant surprise that awaits you), the Siberian Tiger, the Orangutan (who gave us a great show), and the elephants. I can't wait to hear your thoughts.Side note - the frozen strawberry lemonade is wonderfully refreshing and available directly beyond the entrance.

Kristan K — Google review

This was my first visit to the zoo other than Zoo Lights. It was easy to move around and it looks like they have some great improvements coming. We had an entry time in the morning so a lot of the animals were just lying around but as the day went on, they were more active. The hospital was so impressive. The prices were reasonable. My only complaint was we wanted to just get some drinks with ice but had to wait in the long line. It would be nice if they had a beverage line only since there was a place with a cash register and beverage machine that were not being used. Otherwise, everything was amazing.

Donna S — Google review

We had a great time here. This zoo is much better than the Birmingham Zoo. I would rate the zoo five star, but several exhibits are closed for renovations. The elephant show was great. We were able to see one tiger. The other one was sleeping on a platform and only partially visible. We saw some lions, seals and sea lions. Our time was limited, so we did not see much else. If you need to leave and return the same day, then you can get your hand stamped and not have to pay to come back in on the same day.

Steven R — Google review

The zoo was awesome. Was $5 bucks and a lot of walking so wear your walking shoes and if your knee hurts like mines bring a cane. But other then that it was awesome. We all had fun and don’t mind coming back soon

UndyingPanda B — Google review

So much stuff closed and under construction. Very underwhelming. I understand the need for expansion and growth but when half of the zoo seems inaccessible and you spend the other half looking for animals that aren't in their exhibit because they were moved but there's no signs stating so...eh.... Definitely child have been handled better to set better expectations going in. Needs work in that department.

If one has a SNAP card, Admission is only $1, up to 10 admissions - a way better deal than the $24 now being charged. Incredible that is costs that much - way more than when I was a kid. But then, the DZ has upgraded its exhibits and facilities through the decades.A few animal exhibits were empty, such as bears, seals and others.Still, it's a nice facility with good informational signs and exotic animals that seem to do well at high elevation.

A lovely zoo, and clearly on the way to bigger things. The elephant enclosure is very impressive, the largest I've seen outside of Dan Diego. What they have now seems small for a city the size of Denver, but multiple construction projects are underway. The staff were friendly, informed, and engaged. More detailed maps throughout would be a nice touch, as we missed things and had to backtrack because the main map gave the impression of a simple loop that was not a match for how things felt while walking. Even with poor weather it was a great day out and I would visit again in the future.

Had a great time here with my wife and family. Definitely recommend to visit if you are in the area , lots of animals to see and enjoy . There is alot to see , expect to be there for more than a few hours to truly enjoy and experience everything. The staff is supper friendly and knowledgeable. Your going to have to do alot of walking, so bring comfy shoes and if it's a hot day bring your water bottle they got place you can fill it up . Food is mid and pricey, but when your hungry anything and everything tastes good . Bring some sun screen too to protect yourself from those harmful sun rays . I had a great time petting the stingrays and feeding the birds . They have a little train too that you can take your kids on. Lots to see and enjoy . Throughout the day they have little shows where you can learn about the animals , very fun to watch . Hope you enjoy your time there .

It’s super spread out, a great place to get steps. Some animal enclosures were small and I came on a holiday so the crowds were thick—some animals appeared stressed. They had an impressive collection of venomous snakes which were very visible.

Fun first time at the Denver Zoo. The exhibits that were open were great. Penguins put on a show for us. They were so active and funny. Monkeys were the next big hit. As of early April 2024 there is a lot of construction going on in the zoo for new exhibits. There were several areas with no animals available. Still a great experience! We caught a flamingo trying to escape.

If I could I would give this place 3.5 stars. This place is cool and lots of animals. Not too crowded inside. But the parking is really bad. It has a parking lot but took us 20 minutes to find parking. It’s expensive but has some nice things like the one dollar pressed Pennies. But machine 3 just took my dollar and I couldn’t get it back! I am really mad because every dollar counts. But the other ones worked. Overall nice place.

We really enjoyed our day at the Denver Zoo. Arrived around 11 and it took the entire day to see everything. Admission was reasonable. We appreciated that this zoo has indoor and outdoor viewing for most a-list animals so even on chilly days, there's a protected place to experience the zoo.

Best zoo experience of my life! Me and my partner went for my birthday and we saw basically everything! The animals all seemed so happy in their exhibits. I loved feeding the stingrays and the lorikeets, and the wild dogs were beautiful! Left with a plush of one myself. I absolutely want to make this a yearly experience!

I went to the Zoo on a Monday morning with a friend from my college years. It was a beautiful, mild day in May and we had so much fun walking around together and enjoying the animals and learning about them. There were so many educational opportunities and it was clear that the Zoo staff cared deeply for the animals. There’s a lot of evidence of enrichment happening and the animals are never forced to perform.

It was a perfect Spring day for the zoo. It wasn't very busy either. There were quite a few enclosures under construction but the animals that were out were super active. We had a minor first aid need and Tim took very good care of us. I had no idea the zoo had a little doctor office setting for first aid!

Melissa F — Google review

Such an amazing time. Highly recommend. We went on a Saturday and although it was a little busy it was still a fun experience. The animals seem taken care of well and the environments are pretty neat.We did the general admission and felt like it was worth the money and time. We didn’t eat food there due to dietary restrictions we have but it looks like there’s plenty of spots to eat and relax.Oh and use their app on your phone. It has the map and the event times for them feeding certain animals or showing them off. Pretty cool.Looking forward to getting a membership there.

I hadn't been to the Denver zoo in over 30 years..... It was incredible to go back and see how everything has been completely updated. It was literally a whole New world with all the new exhibits and habitats. We had the early bird pass to get in at 8:00 before everybody else came in.... This is highly recommended to beat the crowds. Plenty to do for all ages.... It is definitely a place you can go learn about many many animals. I enjoyed the elephant exhibit.... It was quite large. The tigers also have a pretty incredible habitat. The reptile exhibit was great. They also have lots of random things to do around the park..... activities.... classes other stuff also. There is a barbecue place on premises that sell some pretty good barbecue highly recommended also. Stop by the gift shop on the way out and grab some pretty cool things.... I grabbed a flamingo cup it's awesome 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Absolutely amazing! Plenty of animals to see even though there is construction happening. Tigers ... we were able to catch Viktor's feeding Viktor and Nikita are absolutely beautiful as well as the other animals. Take the time to see the animals towards the back around the construction area. If you don't like to wander there are maps available. Parking lot is usually full but there is more parking along the park side, not too far of a walk. Gift shop has great souvenirs.

It is Awesome!! If you a photographer looking to build your portfolio or just find something to photograph, I highly recommend the zoo. You can get awesome photos and learn lots of cool things about the animals. It’s very family oriented and well kept. They are constantly adding improvements and making it a safer and better place for our community.

Feeding the stingrays is the best past. It costs $3 to get in and $2 per piece of food, which is frozen shrimp or fish. They are so sweet. The grizzly bear is a favorite. I love her. It's a really big zoo. There's so many animals to see. Timed entry is required. There's a lot of free parking.

Frank H — Google review

The Denver Zoo is a can't miss experience! They've really done an incredible job of creating an accessible park while prioritizing animal welfare. There are plenty of nature play areas for children and places to picnic with your family or simply sit and relax near their animals. The animal care staff and education team are all friendly and willing to answer any questions you may have. There are several flex exhibits, so occasionally the signage may not quite match the animal you see - but this is well worth it when you realize it means that animals such as the elephants and rhinos are getting healthy opportunities to experience different environments.Note that tickets have a timed entry, so plan ahead!

Jordan B — Google review

It was a fun time for all! My mama hadn't been in over 20 years, so it was nice to have her join along. We enjoined all the animal exhibits! The animals are so amazing and beautiful to watch! The kids enjoyed the animal carousel as well. Parking wasn't bad, and the gift shop had a variety of animal stuffies, which was a plus. It was a great day, and I recommend to all of any age.

LaVonne R — Google review

The Zoo was mainly cool because me and my boyfriend’s humerus imagination giving the animals we did see voices and personalities…. lol. We went initially for my almost 3 year old because he really is into exotic animals… unfortunately we walked through the entire place and was not able to see very many animals at all… Gorillas, tigers, lions, bears(the main beautiful beasts) were all nowhere to be found…. But we were still thankful for the ones we did get to see… like the turtles… the flamingos (behind glass) & the giraffes. I really did expect more from the Denver zoo especially in the early to late afternoon.. 🫤

Shante ( — Google review

Had a great time here. They had a good selection of animals and the whole zoo is mostly a giant loop so its easy to navigate. You do have to get your tickets ahead of time. Did that online and they just scanned the barcode when you go through the gates.

Jimmy O — Google review

Long time visitors of the Denver Zoo both as native kids ourselves, and with our own familyNew baby orangutan was cool. All the animals were in open, active areas. There is a massive upgrade/expansion project underway in early 2024. The animal hospital is amazing and is setup to allow visitors to observe patient care. We come every year to support our local zoo and will for years to come

Douglas H — Google review

We enjoyed going to zoo's so we stopped here for the afternoon. It was a lot of construction at the zoo so some of the places that said a particular animal was going to be was not there. Maybe we missed the signs that said they're not there at this place, but we are following the map that we were given so that was a little confusing. The bathrooms that we did use were very clean and tidy. There was a couple places open to get some food. Very nice for the animals. We did the zoo in an afternoon but you could easily spend a day here looking. Because we do enjoy zoos. We have a zoo pass for our local zoo. It was disappointed that they were not part of the reciprocity for other zoos. You need to purchase your tickets from a kiosk or before you go. There was no one there to actually purchase tickets from

The Denver Botanic Gardens is a public garden that boasts a variety of gardens and an outdoor sculpture gallery. The botanical garden is known for its endemic plants, as well as its collection of flowers and sculptures.

Parking is easy, staff is super friendly! You can purchase tickets online for easy check in when you arrive. Cute gift shop and a few different spots for a coffee or a bite to eat. Very nice to walk through and enjoy the many different garden, plants and flowers. Beautiful place!

Denver Botanic Gardens is one of the most beautiful gardens I have been to! The gardens are stunning, unique and very well maintained throughout the year. The staff and volunteers are extremely kind and helpful. They also have delicious food and drinks that you can enjoy inside the garden. I also highly recommend the Halloween and Holiday light shows they have in the fall and winter. A lovely place to visit anytime of year!

Amazing place to spend the day. So many different areas with unique plants, flowers, and displays. While most are outdoors, there's several indoor areas if you want to get out the sun.Nice combination of using both floral and water gardens. The different gardens are Gardens of the West, International Gardens, Ornamental Gardens, Shady Gardens, and Water Gardens. You can easily spend a few hours just walking between the different gardens. Regardless of preference, age, physical ability, there's plenty to see here. The gardens are so large, there was never any crowded areas.

This is always a pleasant place to visit when in town. We recently enjoyed a picnic in the gardens while listening to a variety of musicians. Take a stroll through the creative and colorful garden arrangements or catch a concert there when you are able. Make sure to tour both inside and out spaces and grab a bite at a cafe should you have time. They also hav3 wonderful light shows in the winter and educational events as well. Have visited now for over 40 years and we are never disappointed.

The Denver Botanic Gardens was a great place to visit - even in the winter when not much is growing. They accept reciprocal memberships from other gardens across the country as well. The conservatory was a great retreat for warmth and to experience beautifully blooming plants. The art galleries were a nice addition as well. Artfully running streams and other water features masked the sounds of the surrounding city. The gift shop is also top notch!

The gardens are gorgeous! There were quite a bit of people when we visited, but it didn’t feel crowded. There were a lot of shades and places that were cooler in the middle of July. The gift shop has a unique collection of merchandise to choose from. The staff in the ticket booth and the gift shops are super nice too. Would recommend to visit!

Art and plants blend into this special place. Various exhibition halls related to natural plants, whether indoors or outdoors, are amazing everywhere. Nice walking paths and quiet benches to sit down. Tulips galore when I visited and the red bud trees were loaded with blossoms. The pond with all the frogs singing was surrounded by laughing kids, they loved the frogs. At the Offshoots Café I had the signature breakfast sandwich and a cappuccino, fast friendly service and freshly made.

Absolutely a gem of a place and you can really feel the love and care poured into these gardens. Highly recommend a visit!

The gardens are really beautiful, you can definitely spend a lot of time here but you can also see everything within an hour and a half if you’ve got other things to do in the city. They have a cafe on site that you can visit, I didn’t try it because the line was super long. There were a couple of areas closed off since they’re renovating, but there was still plenty to see. There’s also a learning building that is interactive and more geared towards kids, so I think it’s a great place to bring kiddos. The gift shop has a lot of cool items as well!

Its expansive, diverse, and simply lovely grounds provide a plethora of beautiful corners to enjoy & photograph. Beautiful botanical garden with lots of variety in landscapes and types of flora. Visited in mid March so wasn't as impressive as I'm sure it must be later in the spring summer and fall. Great way to spend a few relaxing hours outside on a nice afternoon. Plenty of benches strewn about to sit an relax a bit also.

A must see! If you're going to do one thing while visiting Denver, you should do the Botanic Gardens. The gardens are incredible and the landscapes, architecture, artwork, and grounds are amazing. We spent two hours here on a hot crowded day and left feeling refreshed and inspired. Definitely the best botanic gardens I've visited.

I'm a big fan of Denver Botanic Gardens. Love it so much, I became a member. The gardens are, of course, amazing. But I love the conservatory. Take your time and just spend the day walking the gardens and seeing everything they have to offer. You can rest of two different restaurants, both with delicious food. The gift shop is great and if you enjoy art, they are galleries that rotate different exhibits. You won't be disappointed.

Art museum

The Denver Art Museum is a large art museum in the Western United States. It has a beautiful collection of American Indian art, as well as paintings, sculptures, and prints from around the world. There are many programs and workshops throughout the year at the museum, including opportunities to meet some of the artists whose work is on display.

Well done museum with great colors and lighting. All the little rooms and hallways, passageways give intimacy to the art provided. It makes me feel like I could enjoy without a lot of people around. Good selection of exhibits, bathrooms are always close. Tip: Take the elevator to the top, work your way down. The map isn't a good guide and it seemingly leaves out a lot of the museum.

Wonderful art museum!. Buildings are modern and beautiful. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. They have a large collection of both modern and historic artwork and exhibits are very interesting. They also have a parking garage which is conveniently located and made it easy to access the museum. They have two restaurants on site. We went to the more causal cafe to get a snack and food/drinks were good. There is a lot to see so plan to spend at least several hours here.

Pretty good overall. I was impressed with the variety of artwork and pleasantly surprised. I think it's a disservice to the Indigenous Arts of North America exhibit and artists that recorded video and audio to accompany their pieces with the museum's poor placement of being next to the hallway where every visitor talks loudly in groups and passing by. I couldn't hear the video/audio recording because visitors voices echoed and elevated in volume.

My visit to the Denver Art Museum was a cultural journey I won't forget! The diverse art collection is truly captivating.Tip: Check their website for special exhibitions and parking info. The Hamilton Building's architecture alone is worth the visit. An artistic treasure in the heart of Denver! 🎨🏛️We were late and I had to leave for my flight. The Denver Art Museum is a great stop to make when visiting Denver. There is definitely a lot to see and you could easily spend hours looking at the art and history in both of their buildings. Excellent place for art lovers and children. Added bonus to their main art is the special exhibits that they have, like for this month’s exhibits, the Soul of Black Folks by Amoako Boafo and All Stars from the Phillips Collection. And as an added bonus, if it’s of interest to you, just a few blocks away from the museum is Denver’s Capitol Hill.

We visited the art museum on a Free Day Sunday and it was slightly crowded but what a great way to promote art to the next generation by simply offering free admission. There are 2 buildings so, give yourself enough time to browse through every floor. It is so worth it! They have a massive collection of the old and thrcurrent. My favorite would be the Asian artifacts and also the collection of Impressionism. I wish i had given us more time to get through every floor but we only got there 3 hours before closing. Would definitely go again just to see the rest of its collection. We parked across the street from the Museum and it was a short walk to get to the ticketing booth. The building itself is beautiful and unique. Thoroughly enjoyed my day there.

So much to see and do for a very affordable ticket price! The Denver Art Museum is a large collection of a wide variety of artistic pieces from around the world. Such a great experience and we got to go one one of their many free days (offered sporadically throughout the year)! Beautiful collection, everyone was super friendly and helpful. They even gave us a quarter to put our stuff in one of their bag lockers and trusted us to return the quarter when we left (which we did). Just overall a nice experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the Art Museum. We went on a free day so not everything was available but that didn't matter! There was plenty to enjoy. There's so many interactive stations throughout the museum to explore hands-on for all ages. There were short 10 minute lectures/discussions in various parts of the museum for guests to enjoy. We listened to several of these. It made for a great Homeschool day for us.

7 floors of art in a modern building whose architecture is designed to provide beautiful views of Denver. There was too much to see in one day, so I went back the next day, despite the added cost of paying for a second day because I thought the value was worth it.I loved that an entire floor was comprised of current artists indigenous to the US and Canada. These pieces reacted to the history of colonization and coped with finding self in modern day. The art ranged from sculptures to paintings, from realism to abstract. I've rarely seen art museums with this kind of collection. However, I was disappointed that in order to get to that floor, most visitors would pass through an exhibit on Native American art from hundreds of years ago. This exhibit made no mention of how the museum obtained the art, nor how the museum was currently working with Native Americans to either return the art to their community, or to ensure they were displaying it properly.Additionally, on another floor, a Qu'ran was displayed opened. While I've often seen Bibles displayed that way, this could be disrespectful, given that the majority of Americans know little about Islam. There was not enough context provided here about why it was open, how it was obtained, and whether the museum was working with anyone from the Muslim community about appropriate ways to display. The top floor has marvelous local art and also balconies with marvelous views of the city. The rotating exhibits were fascinating and well worth the extra cost.

The Denver Art Museum is a cultural gem that truly captivates visitors. Spanning two buildings, its architectural presence is impressive, offering a dynamic space for art exploration. With three and seven floors respectively, the museum hosts a diverse collection that spans continents and cultures. Beautiful exhibits of different kinds of art eras...Asian, European, and many others. Some interactive activities for kids but not much, just a few small ones. Wish there had been more hands-on fun things for children. Apart from that we all enjoyed it.The windows overlooking the city and its monuments were also beautiful.

It's hard to compare to the art museums of New York City or Washington DC, but the Denver Art Museum does well to boast a collection that begs one to return again and again to greet familiar friends and to search out and discover new ones. I am always so happy coming here, but then again, I'm kind of a big dork for art, so I'm sure that helps 😄

My parents and I spent the afternoon touring the Denver Art Museum and had a fantastic experience. From the architecture of the museum to the views of downtown and the Rocky Mountains, the space is inviting and inclusive. We were able to borrow a museum wheelchair for my mom to access the museum while my dad took advantage of the portable seating. The galleries featured extensively artwork of native and local artists while adding to a more traditional collection. I appreciated the care that went into curating the exhibits too. My mom especially enjoyed the textiles. You can definitely spend an afternoon, an entire day, or days exploring all that the museum has to offer. I know I will be back during my next adventure in Denver to take in even more!

The galleries are beautiful no matter what your preferences and art style. Parking was easy. Prices reasonable. Multiple buildings, floors and art styles. Loved it.

Highly recommended museum. Huge museum with two buildings. I spent four hours and could have spent the entire day. From traditional art to contemporary art, there’s something for everybody at this museum and the collections are impressive.

The 16th Street Mall in downtown Denver is the hub of social and fun activities for locals and tourists alike. It features both local businesses and tourist destinations, such as cafes, restaurants, stores, pubs, charming pavilions, shuttles, pedicabs and horse-drawn carriages.

I’m in love with this lovely vibrant street in Downtown Denver! The main street in Denver for shopping and flowing with the city life, offers a variety of shops and places to relax, bars, great restaurants, cinemas, galleries and more! When in Denver, you have to go there!

Sari — Google review

Great variety of restaurants and shopping. Be sure to ride the free buses up and down to get around. Union Station at the north end is great too! This Christmas season, there was an AMAZING lighted tree that was FREE and really fun (see videos attached). The only down side is there are quite a few panhandlers and others that may not make it very family friendly after about 6PM. Still, even they were pretty peaceful and didn't cause trouble.

Michael Y — Google review

The whole place is under construction. Still able to access the restaurants and stores off the street but the sheer amount of fencing and dirt kinda takes the funbuzz out of the feel of what was a festival lively hopping place. It’ll be great when it’s done, for sure, but what’s that timeline? Months? Year? More? Bummer.

MtZ R — Google review

We visited this place because we read that it was built by architect Pei, but to be honest it is not super impressive, and doesn’t look that interesting. Just a regular mall. In the front of the building, on the little square, there are tons of shady homeless, who make the visit very displeasing. Not that it’s the mall’s problem though…

Evgeniya ( — Google review

16th Street Mall is very much like Nicollet Mall, downtown Minneapolis. Food, pedestrians, drinks, shopping and more.I am not a fan that you cannot sit down anywhere, unless you pay. You have to go to a restaurant. Almost all outdoor Mall seating is gone to try and curb the homelessness and drug problems. The seating that is there is like a trap. I wasn't even sitting down when I had a security guard approach me telling me I needed to leave. Ok, sure. Why? And, I did.I didn't mention that all I was doing was putting my gloves in my bag.I'll keep going back when I am craving Caribou Coffee, Sam's or amazing Pho.

Wesley K — Google review

They have the pavers started on block 2 , so it's progress. There's lots of construction on the blocks for the 16th st mall project, but you can still access all the shops, and parking was never easy anyways but theres a couple parking garages that are reasonable one on stout and one on champa. The free ride drives along 15th and 17th instead of 16th while under construction. 15th to go west or north and 17th to go south or east. There's bus stops along the roads. Sam's is great to eat at but my favorite is the Blessed BBQ on welton it's fantastic, he's got the best brisket Ive ever ate. Ikes sandwich shop is awesome too on Curtis. Just be careful of traffic and construction going on. It's gonna get better down there, one block at a time. But support the shops that decided to tough it out thru the construction. They are troopers.

Heidi B — Google review

Unfortunately this area is under reconstruction... It's not worth getting there... Empty stores, closed restaurants and homeless people everywhere... What was a super attractive/fun walk became a temporary disaster…

Dayana M — Google review

Always a fun time on the strip. Excellent selection of restaurants, bars, etc. The views are very good. The 16th st mall really gives you a different feel and angle to see most of the city.

Ryan B — Google review

Went down, going to see the parade of lights, however the crowds were so bad we couldn't get anywhere near the parade route. Did have a good time though got some nice pictures and went into the Brown Palace where I used to work, and took some pictures of the beautiful chandelier.

Jeffrey R — Google review

Definitely not the place to visit. Maybe the locals might know something but I don’t understand what is the appeal. Street looks totally empty, mostly homeless people, construction everywhere, a few bars, restaurants, retail stores and that’s it. I don’t understand why when I put in the top places to visit on google search, every website recommends this place as the top location to visit. Absolutely not the image I would like tourists to remember of Denver.

David C — Google review

The 16th Street Mall area in downtown Denver is still not back to where it's was at 3 years after Covid. This area was really great and still can be, but there are a bunch of empty storefronts and lots of homeless wandering around the neighborhood. Something needs to change......

A R — Google review

Had a great time walking and seeing all the cool buildings and trying different food spots. Very friendly and chill people!

Benjamin L — Google review

The 16th Street Mall is a rather interesting study in modern retail mall space. Management obviously invests heavily in keeping the property clean & curb appeal high. However, at the same time, there is signage --but very clean & well maintained signage-- for stores which are no longer present in the mall. All of the restaurants we visited were very clean & appeared well managed. There are several smaller, non-chain stores which offer interesting merchandise -- definitely worth a look inside. Also, mall security is very visible & doing a great job of addressing potential problems before they can fester into nasty situations. All in all, a nice area to relax & spend some time.

Ed H — Google review

Unfortunately, in the middle of a major renovation and construction through 2025. Until then, it's a bit tough to get around and do things.

Tearle W — Google review

2023-Dec. Lots of construction going on. Lots of stores have closed. There are lots of less unfortunate people living in the streets walking around, but they don't bother you. The free mall ride detoured through adjacent streets due to the construction. See photos for detour map.

Cindy R — Google review

There's easy access to both food and shopping, along with some street performers! Really awesome during holidays and seasonal events, and there's a bus ride to get around quickly, or if you're just tired. Overall atmosphere is pretty calming!

Stadium

Sights & Landmarks

Coors Field is the home of the Colorado Rockies, a Major League Baseball team that plays in downtown Denver. The stadium features nostalgic feel combined with state-of-the-art technology, making it one of the premier ballparks in all of baseball. Behind the Seams tours are available during the season and provide a behind-the-scenes look at one of the best ballparks in Major League Baseball.

Got tickets to go to the Rockies vs the Reds... it was a great game .. the process for the tickets was super easy and Coors field was great .. suoer clean and nothing but professional from all the workers to the Concessions.. the prices were not to bad . They actually compete with some of the local bars for food and beer prices.. we will be going back and I hope to have the same great experience

Colors field is a very nice baseball park. Easy access in downtown with lots of parking options available. They are card only inside and have lots of vendors to choose from for food. Someone is always available to help out if you need to find something. Decently accessible but lacking more elevators for those who need them. Have always had a good time here!

Robin M — Google review

First time at Coors field and was not disappointed! Seats are comfortable and plenty of leg room for a 6 foot person. Food was great..team store was clean and organized. ♿️ parking was great with plenty of spots and greatly appreciated located in lot A/B for those that need it. Be aware if you have not been there that levels 200's and 100's are on the same level for some. Signs are posted everywhere though which was great. Leaving the stadium they really control traffic well so your not sitting forever! As a disabled veteran and was there with 2 other veterans, appreciated the "hats off" in between the inning! Thank you for that honor to stand with my fellow veterans! Overall, great first experience and will definitely be back for more games.

I bought last minute tickets for my son and myself to see the Yanks play the Rockies. Ended up sitting in the second row. We had a great time. This isn't the fault of the Rockies of course, as it's mandated league wide, but the addition of the netting is quite distracting. I understand it's due to an increase in fan injuries. Most likely due to fans spending too much time on their phones and not enough time watching the game. Just something I noticed.Other than that we had a great time. Top: go online ahead of time and purchase a parking pass. I bought one for $21 at a parking garage less than . 5 miles away. One less thing to worry about.

Beautiful baseball stadium in downtown Denver. This stadium is a few blocks away from Union Station and easy to walk to. So many restaurants and bars nearby for a drink or two before or after the game. This stadium has some awesome views of the mountains off in the distance. A great selection of food to choose from, we tried several things from tacos, brats and the fried dough; everything was delicious!

Colors Field is a standout destination for sports enthusiasts, boasting an architectural design that is nothing short of spectacular. The stadium's sleek, modern lines and impressive structural details make it a visual delight. Whether you're admiring the exterior or exploring the interior spaces, the design ingenuity is evident at every turn. The culinary offerings at Colors Field are equally impressive. With a diverse range of food options, from gourmet snacks to hearty meals, there's something to satisfy every palate. The quality and variety of the food make it a highlight of any visit.Adding to the experience is the incredibly friendly and enthusiastic crowd. The fans at Colors Field create a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere that enhances the overall enjoyment of the game. However, the organization running the product on the field leaves much to be desired. Despite the beautiful setting and superb amenities, the management's inefficiency often detracts from what could be an otherwise perfect experience.Overall, Colors Field delivers an excellent time for visitors, thanks to its remarkable architecture, delicious food, and wonderful crowd. With better organization, it could truly be a top-tier venue.

Kent R — Google review

An okay stadium. There's only one large screen for the stadium, so if you're sitting up top, forget about knowing what's going on, or seeing a replay, up close. Getting in wasn't too bad of a wait. The security folks were nice, as everyone was entering/exiting. The stadium was constructed in such a way that the majority of the stadium is in the sun while only the area near third base is in the shade -- PRO TIP: get tickets on the third base side if you want to be in the shade!!!

Rachel R — Google review

I really enjoyed my first game at Coors field. It was awesome! The seats in section 120 were great. We got lucky and the Rockies won the game and we also came during fan appreciation day and saw an amazing display of fireworks.I wish they didn’t stop serving on the 7th inning. It’s up to people to make their adult decisions and choose to drink or not.

Despite being a baseball fan for almost 2 decades (2004) and Yankees being my favorite team since then, I never actually went to a baseball game in my life until last week. Despite the Dodgers and Angels being close to me, I never had the courage to actually attend a baseball game. So I decided to go to Coors Field while visiting Denver(for the first time as well) and I'm glad I did. It was a blast. It was a bit of a headache trying to find my seat, but I eventually found it. Friendly staff. Friendly people sitting next to me. Great game too! Rockies almost rallying on the bottom of the 9th was a great way to end the game. Much better to watch the game in person than TV that's for sure.Unforgettable experience. I would attend again.

Very nice Stadium in Downtown Denver. Only wish we had a more competitive baseball team like the one that took us to the World Series years ago. The owner doesn't really seem to want to make the investment 😕

First time here, and what an AWESOME place. Great Happy Hour at the Jack Daniels lounge on the roof, and by far, the FRIENDLIEST staff in any space, ever! Shout out to Freddy and Rooftop Randy - they were two of the best people I've ever met, and really makes the day at the park a blast. 😃

Michael C — Google review

We came to the game on 7/1 to watch the Rockies play the St. Louis Cardinals. This was Nolan Arenado’s first game back in Colorado so it was nice to see him receive a well deserved ovation. This was only my second time here but I really love this ballpark. It is extremely well done and comes off as classic without being gimmicky. The game day staff were extremely nice and helped assist us with questions. A fan behind us brought a towel to dry off his seat from an earlier rain shower and he let us use it as well. Even though we were dressed out for the Cardinals we had fun interactions with Rockies fans and everyone seemed happy to be at the ballpark. We sat in the lower part of the upper deck behind home plate and I thought they were great seats. The seats along the first base line receive quite a bit of evening sun but they also have views of the mountains. Some concession stands offer a kids meal for $5 which is great for families. You can also bring in unopened non-alcoholic drinks which I would highly recommend. We caught a street vendor outside but there is also a 7-Eleven store on Blake street towards downtown nearby. We walked up and down the 16th street pedestrian mall before and after the game to our downtown hotel. There are homeless people but we never felt unsafe despite the late hour. Coors Field is a great baseball stadium and a must see for anyone visiting Denver.

The Rockies played against the Braves during our stay in Denver. We've never been to a baseball game and we tough it would be a fun night. And it was! It's a really nice stadium with beautiful views over the Rocky Mountains. There was a good vibe and a nice bar close to our seats. We had a very good time eventough they didn't win the game.

Merel B — Google review

Coors Field is a true gem among ballparks. Ranked at #13 on my professional stadium tour, it comfortably earns a spot in my top 5. Despite being only 28 years old, it exudes the charm of an old-time ballpark. Everywhere you turn, you'll find nods to Rockies history, and the views are equally breathtaking. Coors Field excels in areas where other stadiums often fall short; the food is both delicious and reasonably priced, ensuring that enjoying dinner at the game won't break the bank. Plus, the free parking lot shuttle is a fantastic perk. Although parking comes at a cost, having a shuttle option is perfect for those who prefer not to walk or have children in tow. All in all, Coors Field is a treasure in Denver that deserves a visit from both diehard baseball fans and casual enthusiasts alike.

Michael U — Google review

One of the most beautiful stadiums in all of major league baseball. Very conveniently located in downtown Denver and easy to get to whether you’re downtown or coming off of the interstate. Lots of great food, craft, beer, and incredible Colorado weather to watch a baseball game. The backdrop over the scoreboard and to the west is an incredible view of the Colorado mountains. This is especially awesome for a summer early evening game to watch the sunset. Very family oriented stadium and an overall great time.

Living R — Google review

Parked in lot B, not that bad of a walk. Dead center view bleacher style seats in this area. Not bad got a little sore after sitting for a while. The food and drinks is why it didn't get more stars. Hot dog bond fell apart and it was opening day. Draft beers were all foamy. Carnitas nachos were probably the best thing we had but we're salty. Pretzel bites hard. They should have their own draft beer made for the Baseball Club. Should have more selections of other kind of beers. We were entertained with the game

David M — Google review

We came to a ballgame on 5/10. The ballpark is pretty cool and you can get $3 dollar beer in the right field upper deck bar which was a steal and a great place to pregame. You also get a good view. We purchased tickets in the Club section and were extremely disappointed. The club section is still stuck in the 90s and not the worth it and there were a lot less food choices. Do nit buy these tickets if you are visiting from out of town. You've been warned.

Andrew F — Google review

Absolutely loved this field! By far, one of the most beautiful in the MLB! Not a bad view in the house, but do walk around it to take it all in. Food was good too, not crazy overpriced. Great time!

One of the best field tours me and my wife have done.We decided to go to the tour during our trip to DEN.Grab tickets the day of on a Wednesday, off season.Highly recommended to due during the week, we had a group tour but we’re the only ones on it.Ended up being a private tour with Phil, the lead tour from Coors field for the last 17yrs.Learned a lot about the stadium, the team, the infrastructure and the staff.Tour takes you throughout the stadium, including the visitors dugout, legacy suites, restaurants, outfield rooftop section and home plate on field photo.Great value for the cost, set us back only ~$30 per ticket.Highly recommended.

Jeffrey L — Google review

Took a tour of the field. Highly recommend. Super interesting (and I'm not a big baseball fan). Our guide was really well informed. He had plenty of history and fun-facts about the stadium as well as other stadiums. We got to see areas that aren't ordinarily available like the players locker room. Got to walk on the field.

Wendy — Google review

I've been to a lot of baseball stadiums, with my faves being Wrigley, of course, because I'm a Cubs fan, and Great American Ballpark because I'm a fan of the city of Cincinnati. This was my first visit to Coors Field. It appears to be a smaller venue than GAB, but there's a lot to recommend. Ticket prices were relatively reasonable, and concessions were good quality and again reasonably priced. Still, for two people, it was a $300 outing with just basic fare. They lose a star for parking. Public parking is a fifteen minute walk from the park, and not cheap. They run shuttles, but it's still pretty inconvenient. In the current climate, people say that you go to Coors Field to see the opponent. We're going to see the Reds and the Cubs later this year. After this first visit, we'll know the layout better, and might even root for the Rockies eventually.

Darrell H — Google review

Nice atmosphere but team hasn’t been great over the last few years. Good food and drink options. The surround area around Coors Field is nice, filled with lots of food and drink options.

Josh B — Google review

I don't care where it is in the US. I'm going to the ballpark. This park isn't extravagant, but it is a nice park situated in downtown Denver. We went and watched the Rockies win, and for me, any day with baseball is a great day. Tickets weren't crazy. They actually have some of the cheaper side of concessions I've seen at parks. So it's worth the time to go enjoy a base ball game. It is America's pastime after all.

Bryan A — Google review

First time visiting Colorado. I came to Coors field to watch my Dodgers play. It is a beautiful stadium. It was very easy to Uber into and out of the stadium all 3 days we were there. Decent variety of food and drinks and prices were slightly cheaper than at dodger stadium. Let's go Dodgers!

Amber G — Google review

Stopped by for a night game while visiting Denver. The fans were very welcoming and the atmosphere was laid back. Tickets were very affordable especially for being right down first base line! Outdoorsy outfield was a nice touch too.

Going to see the Rockies game, once a year. My daughter loves playgrounds there, sometimes we are not even making to our seats. Coors Field got bigger variety of food and drink choices compared to other stadiums. I liked Burned Ends at the Smokehouse, also they got really tasty baked beans!

Easy parking, impressive stadium. Prices are a tad high but that’s to be expected. Definitely wear and bring sunscreen!!!! The heat is brutal! The variety of food is awesome 👍🏼 we had a really good time!

I've been to 60% of the MLB ballparks and this is one of the nicest. Tons of cool nooks and sightlines to explore. Bike lanes to and from the ballpark. Lots of good bars and rooftop patios to visit within walking distance.

Kevin S — Google review

Very nice field! Beautiful area and the weather was nice. However it was an afternoon game in June and got pretty warm because we were right in the sun with no shade. Still good time just 4 stars because lack of shade in seating area.

Jake S — Google review

This is a beautiful ballpark located in downtown Denver. It has some spectacular views. If you connote third deck row 20 all the seats up there are purple marking the mile high seats. They have wonderful views of the mountains. Also there is a great selection of food here. So much food options there was too many for me to try and not enough time to try them all. I have to say if you haven’t already try the Colorado rocky mountain oysters. They are not bad at all. You have to try them at least once.

Kevin D — Google review

I love baseball and enjoying a game in Colorado is best case when you visit Coors field. I was able to find parking even with the broncos game partaking nearby. I had very reasonable seats and food once inside the stadium. Rockies fans were absolutely amazing even with my Padres gear on visiting as a spectator. The stadium was super clean and very walkable. I’d highly recommend checking out this stadium for a ballgame if you love baseball.

This baseball field was so nice but what I loved the most is how open it is. There is even a playground for children and recommend if u go to a game to go up to the rooftop level.

The Cheyenne Depot Museum is an all-ages museum dedicated to the Union Pacific Railroad. The museum showcases photographs and models of various aspects of the Union Pacific history, including surveying, track-laying, and steam engines such as Big Boy. Visitors can explore the historic depot and listen to audio recordings from men who worked on trains in different capacities. The museum also houses the Cheyenne Visitor Center, making it a one-stop destination for tourists interested in learning about railroad history.

Cool little museum with a lot of railroad and Cheyenne history! The model trains dioramas were cool but it’s a shame they weren’t operating. We didn’t have kids with us but it seems like they might get a little bored since there’s limited things for them to interact with. Lots of awesome detailed reading and history for adults though. The audio tour was cool too since it uses your phone and you just dial in for each area. Would definitely recommend if you’re visiting Cheyenne.

Great experience of the beginnings of Cheyenne and the Union Pacific. Many settlers and stations have come and gone from the late 1800s and present time. Working for Hulcher has let me see all the RR businesses that help build the Transcontinental railroad. Highly recommend visiting the Depot museum & gift shop. 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽Ft.Worth Texas luv for Wyoming!

One of the best train museums we have ever been to and we go to lots of them. Every aspect of the Cheyenne part of Union Pacific history is covered from the surveyors, to laying the tracks, to Big Boy and everything you can think of related to steam engines. The history was excellent and displays were great. It’s located in the historic depot and is quite beautiful. The rooms have audios of men who worked in the train yards and on the trains in various capacities there is an audio tour. The Cheyenne Visitor Center is also located there. A wonderful experience, give yourself several hours. And thank you Michelle for being such a kind and informative staff member.

Wonderful for train enthusiasts! Learned a lot about the region and trains. Great activities for kids and adults with displays set up for a wonderful experience. Upstairs is the model trains exhibit where there are very knowledgeable staff waiting to answer any and all questions. It's a fantastic spot as it's location is right next to the railroad tracks and we got to see Union Pacific's Big Boy 4014 coming back from Denver Colorado.

Cheyenne depot museum and plaza is one of the main attractions of Cheyenne downtown. The depot museum is great place preserving the history of this city. Outside plaza is decorated with some great bronze sculptures. I would recommend this place to everyone. pParking could be difficult so find your place before this place get crowded. The museum timings are different so call them before you go.

We had a great time, the guy running the front desk was very nice and knowledgeable. It took our family of 6 about 2 hours. The train room upstairs was amazing. Pet friendly as well, we had our 2 dogs with us and they let us through with them, awesome experience.

Who knew there would be so much more to learn about the history of trains coming to and from Cheyenne! Here's a fun fact, when I was there, there was a video of a train going from Golden, Colorado to Black Hawk, Colorado. I'm from that area and had zero idea! Who knew I would learn about my own backyard in a city 120 miles away!

Teresa S — Google review

It was entertaining, but not what I expected. I wanted to see real trains and hoped to see the railroad roundhouse out back, but we couldn't because of buildings and fencing in the way. The elevator to the top floor of the main lobby also didn't work which I was hoping would give me a chance at a view of it with no luck. The main floor had a lot of history of the town and train station and how they used to make and fix things. There was also a kid play area and a little shop with shirts, toys, postcards, etc. If you like train dioramas though then the second floor is definitely for you. There was also a penny squish machine which made me happy.

Rose G — Google review

Great museum for kids and adults - many exhibits and photos with interesting info (there was an article from the 19th century about a new miracle invention - telephone:) )There is an area for kids to play with wooden train tracks and a place on the second floor where kids can control a model train. The museum run model train is impressive although it wasn't on when we visited. The gift shop has many options for train lovers and Wyoming visitors.

Aliya M — Google review

Wonderful little museum. I especially loved the huge toy train setup upstairs. Cute little gift shop with lots of unique items.

CLSH — Google review

Beautiful museum. Details the history of the railroad system in the United States. The second floor displays a very detail miniature landscape of Colorado with train and mini towns. The person who put it together, Mr. Harry Brunk, took 30 years in the making, past away this May (2023) at the age of 82. He made this huge project possible by dismantling a manufactured home.

LIVE V — Google review

We decided to drive into Cheyenne and check out their train museum there. The place is priced well and full of great docents to answer questions. There is a nice model train area upstairs that is well worth the time to visit. The layout took more than 30‘years to create/assemble and a marvelous jo!

Mark H — Google review

A neat place to go to if you're in town! Definitely worth it. Kids would love this place. If you like trains in any way, or have a kid that does, this is the place to go! If you're lucky, actual trains will roll past, since it is still an official train depot. Upstairs (there are large elevators, so wheelchair accessible) there is a large room with a long, continuous model train and railroad. Due to the time of year we went (winter) it was not running, but in summer it is supposed to.Additionally there was a smaller remote control train that you could turn on yourself. There is also a movie that replays upstairs to watch, if you wanted. It is an older movie. There are some children-safe things to interact with, such as a wooden caboose and train car that they can play in and take pictures.

Tallstar's H — Google review

Very cool places to learn about, see, and play with TRAINS! Learn about the history of Cheyenne and how the train depot played a big part in helping to establish it. It also has a lot of history information about Union Pacific.Took us about 2 hours to go through the whole thing. Lots to read and learn about. They also have different spots to sit and watch short videos. You can call a phone number and get a free audio tour through the whole thing. It costs $10 per adult, but kids 12 and under are free. I think 13-17 was about $7? It's definitely worth it. They also have a cool gift shop too. There are two floors to go through, and the second floor has a whole model set up. Look for dinosaurs. 🦖Also, be sure to check out the Big Boy 4004 down the street after you go through the museum. It's awesome. It's at a park and it's free.

We were here on weekend and there was a craft fair/farmers market taking place; lots of interesting items on sale. The museum cost 10.00 a person to go in, we did not visit the museum, but walked around the train depot. The painted boots around the depot are extremely nice to view.

Bernadette S — Google review

What a fun and informative museum. The model railroad museum upstairs is really fun. The detail in the buildings and surrounding forests, rivers and rock formations is phenomenal. The conductors are great and provide you with information. There are also 4 tiny dinosaurs hidden throughout the display, which adds to the adventure! Definitely a must see!

Tanya L — Google review

There is a wonderful HOn3 narrow gauge model train layout on the second floor of the museum,I love it!

gtboylin — Google review

I LOVE trains!I loved the diversity of displays to view in this train museum! I liked getting to view vintage uniforms, tools, books, and accessories. Another thing I enjoyed viewing was the second floor of miniature trains. The dinosaur scavenger hunt was a cute touch to the experience. And how fun is it to watch trains go by as you tour? Excellent experience.

The Wyoming State Museum offers educational, historical and cultural displays that showcase life in Wyoming from prehistoric times to the present. The museum features excellent dioramas of wildlife, exhibits on sheep ranching, mining, cowboys and pioneer life. Visitors of all ages can enjoy interactive exhibits such as touching hides of various animals. The Native American exhibits provide valuable insights into the region's history and culture. Additionally, there are informative displays about Yellowstone National Park and its wildlife.

Very interesting, some of the scenes were realistic. If you go up to one of the scenes that have a coyote in it you can see I believe pheasants on the other side. That made my day because no one else noticed.

Now this museum is definitely worth checking out! I have to admit, I think my favorite part of this museum was the kids area 😂. Two floors of SO much different information. From hunting, to pioneering, to state forests, to some dinosaurs and more! This museum got a little bit of everything! I don't want to post too much because I don't want to spoil the magic that this museum has to offer. You'll just have to see for yourself!

Great history museum in downtown Cheyenne! Free admission, they accept donations instead. They have great exhibits about Wyoming and its history. From times of the dinos, to the lives of the indigenous people, and then the establishment of WY as a state. There's also a small section with some contemporary art. I was especially touched by the exhibit that shared information and statistics about Missing, Murdered, and Indigenous Women exhibit and video in the gallery. This is an issue that needs a lot more attention and I appreciate that it is here. I really enjoyed my visit. Thank you

A wonderful museum with excellent dioramas of wildlife and fantastic exhibits on sheep ranching, mining, cowboys and pioneer life. Great for all ages. Plan to spend several hours. The staff are super nice and docent from Tanzania was a great guy. Their Native American exhibits were very educational. Children will love touching the hides of various animals. The National Park section was particularly good. Lots of good info on Yellowstone and wildlife, including the Yellowstone stagecoach.

Got here as they were setting up for family day. We were in a bit of a hurry but they didn't seem to mind at all, and left us to our own to explore. This place is absolutely interesting, and had I the time I would absolutely spend more time here. My favorite exhibit was the national parks exhibit, which was filled with so many interesting facts about the parks around this beautiful state. I was mainly here for the state capitol stamp passport booklet, but they sold out so they stamped a paper for me to add to my travel notebook. The amazing volunteers here are so welcoming and lovely! I will have to return to Cheyenne to enjoy more. Expect to spend 45 minutes here for adults, an hour to an hour and a half if you've kids (however, with how many activity stations I saw, I could see this being a 2-3 hour endeavor with kids). For two adults in a hurry, we spent 25 minutes running through, and I wish we had 15 minutes more to spare so I could look and read more, this is such a great free museum. 5/5 would return!

Wonderful museum! I loved it! There is something for everyone, Dinosaurs Geology War relics and memorabilia. The section on Native Americans was very informative and Respectful. The exhibit on Missing and Murdered Indigenous people and Showing of the documentary about it was incredibly informative and inspiring to cause change. This museum has wonderful resources and I definitely recommend it to anyone who loves learning. Admission was free and There is a gift shop as well.

The family days are wonderful!! fun activities and access to the museum. They have an interactive room, really good experience for kids and adults. Also they have some activities by zoom, like exposition or conferences, some days ago was one about the bison culture, definitely one of my favorites museums!!

Martha M — Google review

The museum is so great! It's completely free to the public and they have an amazing area for the kids. I'll be bringing my kids back for future rainy day fun.The gift shop is also pretty cool. They have something for everyone.

Abra S — Google review

Free admission and lots of free street parking adjacent to the museum. Informative displays and exhibits. I would recommend 1-2 hours to visit.

Ryan S — Google review

The museum is a bit small, but it does have two floors. The staff is super friendly, and they have a lot of interactive displays. The museum is very well put together.

Juvenal L — Google review

It was a free museum with relatively easy parking (free) on the road. The sites were fantastic and truly covered the whole state. There was a elementary class while we went and they seemed to be having the time of their lives!Additionally, I was very glad to see a wall about how Indigenous women are going missing at an alarming rate across the US, but also Wyoming. It is important to bring attention to the problem.Highly recommend going if you're in Cheyenne!

Tallstar's H — Google review

Such a great little museum. Near the capital and full of interesting displays. Our kids all enjoyed it, ages ranging from 10-15 y/o. Free to enter, with a donation box. They also had a great little gift shop with very reasonably priced items. Definitely a good stop on your visit to downtown Cheyenne!

I took my 11 year old granddaughter to the museum and she loved it. The play area and displays were informative and fun. She learned a lot about the history of Wyoming.

For a free local museum this was fun & interesting. The lady that greeted us at the door was really friendly. She told us about the museum, gave us some information about the museum, & hooked us up with some brochures for local attractions. The museum itself had exhibits about dinosaurs, the old west, & the geography of Wyoming. Definitely worth taking a couple hours of your time to check out!

Shane H — Google review

My kids loved this museum. They had a great section that was hands on where the lights adjusted to represent different times of day. There were pelts and antlers to touch and it was great. I enjoyed the entire museum.

Eric L — Google review

A very nice State history museum that is definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. Unlike many museums that are packed with too many things to see, here you have some selected items that are well-chosen and represent the many facets of Wyoming state history. We spent about 90 minutes there and enjoyed everything we saw. Some good activities for young kids, so bring them along!

The Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum is a historical museum in Cheyenne, WY that features temporary exhibits, photos, and a video-screening room. It also showcases an impressive collection of rodeo gear and the largest assortment of carts in the world, many of which are used during the Frontier Days parade. Visitors can learn about Frontier Days and explore numerous frontier artifacts on display. The museum requires at least two hours to fully appreciate its vast offerings.

We learned a lot about Frontier Days and had a good time looking at all the different types of carts. They have the largest collection of carts in the world and many get used each year in the Frontier Days parade. We hope to come back sometime during Frontier Days to enjoy all the festivities!

Autumn M — Google review

I liked the place, and as a foreigner, I found it a really interesting glimpse into local history and rodeo culture in particular. My ignorance about "Frontier Days" being a rodeo event (it's huge in Cheyenne but not exactly something we talk about all the time in Europe...) led to me being a bit surprised at how focused the museum is on that particular festival. Arguably, that's on me, but I did feel that the "old west" part of its name could be approached with somewhat more detailed exhibits and information on the history of the area. There are some cool objects on display though.Do want to point out that $17.50 pp. (May 2024) in my opinion is really steep (and there's a review from 11 months ago mentioning how steep $12 is, so it seems prices are going up here beyond what inflation would account for). I understand the museum may depend on charging a certain amount, but other museums in the US I've recently been to were either less expensive or had more to offer.Nevertheless, a nice place if you have an interest in the topic, especially if you like rodeo, so 3.5-4* for me.

Simon S — Google review

Extensive, interesting collection of carriages and wagons as well as CFD and rodeo memorabilia. As other reviewers have noted, much of the rodeo material is dated (late '80s to early '90s) and is in need of updating. Relatively steep admission fee.

Greg K — Google review

Absolutely fantastic museum. A real must see. Worlds largest for carriages.

Craig O — Google review

Fantastic museum. Their collection of carriages is second to none. Fascinating history of Cheyenne Frontier Days

oldwolf53 — Google review

I think this is a cool place and I feel bad saying this but..... It's over priced for what it is. It's dated and badly needs to be renovated to justify the $12 a person. It's really only worth $6ish a person. Seeing the old wagons was neat. If friends come in town would not say this is a must see unless they *love frontier days. The free botanical gardens across the street are a huge plus for the location and made us feel like it wasn't a wasted trip just for this museum.

C B — Google review

This place has to be one of our favorite stops. Always hearing about “The Daddy of them all” and getting to stop and see it has only inspired us to come back to CFDs. The museum is great with numerous wagons preserved, memorabilia from past cowboys including Lane Frost. This was a special trip to see the museum. Wish we could have gotten to see inside the arena area, but it was great just the same.

Jody D — Google review

My parents loved it! They were visiting from CT and we stopped here for 30 minutes during the weekend trolley ride. I know my dad wishes we spent longer there! There are many interesting things to see inside and the gift shop is really nice.

Lauren H — Google review

If your ever in Cheyenne, WY check out the Frontier Museum. It has the largest collection of carriages and buggies in the world. Wow so much to see there. Incredible collection of frontier artifacts. It takes at least two hours to see..but could easily spend more time there.

jtx — Google review

Took a weekend trip to Cheyenne, this place was definitely worth the trip. Especially if you're an old west or rodeo fan. Not real big, but lots to see.

JB — Google review

Had a wonderful time looking at the wagons and displays. The employees were helpful and friendly. We also liked the short film in the back. The only thing left to do is come back during the rodeo.

Cam V — Google review

Very friendly staff. I felt like I was stepping back in time with the old carriages and artifacts. Great gift shop. We learned a lot about the rodeo culture here and how important Frontier Days is to this town. Great stop while we were visiting Wyoming.

This was really neat and a good place to stretch your legs and take in a little bit of history. I also found amazing to actually walk where the wagons had made a smooth path in the stone. There are two ways up to see it, both are pretty steep, make sure to take your time if inclines are hard on you.

Heather . — Google review

Fantastic! There are multiple stretches and you can actually walk around in. Walk in the tracks of those following the Oregon Trail. We have not seen other “ruts” this clear and accessible.

Christie M — Google review

Driving through Wyoming? This is an interesting spot to take a rest and walk around. Make sure to walk the trail a bit and don’t worry, your chances of getting dysentery on your way across the plains, are pretty slim.

Holly H — Google review

What a cool spot. Thank you for creating these kinds of experiences for us!

Lisa K — Google review

Not a high glamour stop, but historically interesting. Definitely not crowded. Interesting visual to think about and compare the 1800s settlers, iron wheels, no suspension, heat and bugs with our current cars that insulate us for the environment.

Marsh J — Google review

Look up the area, what incredible, tenacious people. Hardy! Indian agency's, the army, and Blk. Hills gold. Busy, energy, great very peaceful. Lots of trading, friends and treaty's were established to build the Best, New life. Pioneers!!! Wonderful trip Windy, a soul cleanser.

Arnette K — Google review

The trail ruts are really amazing. When your standing in the ruts you get a perspective of the number of travelers, wagons, and goods that came through there. Today, the area probably looks a lot like it did when the settlers came through. After we visited, we went to register cliff as a close by side trip. After that we went to Fort Laramie. Also, a very good stop in the area. These three sites are must see locations for American history buffs. Highly recommend.

Chris T — Google review

Best preserved ruts along the Oregon Trail. Must-see if you're interested in the Trail. Mind blowing how many wagons it must have taken to leave such a permanent mark on the landscape.

Chris — Google review

Ok, this was much more interesting than I thought it would be. I do love history and I’ve heard of the Oregon Trail ruts before, butI had no idea these were so pronounced where you could see the the indentation of thousands of wagons that made there way over these rocks. All I can say is that I hope they had good cushions to sit on because that much have been pretty bumpy! It is back a gravel road, but we took our rental sports car back there with no problem. Not sure what that would be like in wet conditions though. There are two sets of ruts, the main set at the top of the rocks and another one on the way down, so walk the entire loop.

Andy K — Google review

These were amazing to see! Heads up, they're in more than one spot so be sure to hike the entire way. Follow the trail that doesn't have grass until you make it to the top of the hill.

Dis S — Google review

I was debating wether I should stop here or not and I am so glad I did. Such a beautiful site and area. Small hike up

Rippy W — Google review

You must stop. Just takes a few minutes to get there. Worth seeing. Quick break on a long drive. Beautiful and amazing history.

Becky B — Google review

A humbling reminder of those that made the journey west under very difficult conditions. If you follow only the concrete path, you will see just a fraction of what's here. Take the dirt paths to the left at the top of the hill, use the Google Maps satellite view and you'll find a wide variety of trail remnants.

Greg K — Google review

Wow! These are some of the best ruts I’ve seen along the entire trail. Also if you move past the main ruts at the top of the hill and go to the right, there’s a second set of ruts by the small bridge. It’s just a 30 second walk down the path. If you keep your eyes open beyond that, you’ll see the cut in the earth from where the trail led to those ruts.Watch out for cactus if you decide to walk that portion though! My dog got stuck with a Prickly Pear in his belly.

Dave K — Google review

Cool spot for a short walk to stretch out your legs and learn a little bit about the history of America. Only a few blocks off the main highway too. The trail to the left is a little steep in spots, but the trail on the right is more gradual and better for those with mobility limitations. Both go to the same spot.

Brady H — Google review

Very cool and historical

Okie D — Google review

Great stop. Be sure to follow the road to the end. Don't stop at the first parking area. Give you a true appreciation for the difficulties faced by the early settlers.

John A — Google review

It is very humbling to realize the determination and sacrifice that our pioneering ancestors mustered to find new beginnings, never forgetting the promise of new devastated cultures of old.

Connie H — Google review

Nice quick stop and a short hike to stretch your legs! It was awesome to see ruts from wagons that were on the Oregon Trail! We have done several stops at various sites on our trip and this was an Awesome stop!
