A Florida man, who was convicted of killing two women earlier this year, has been sentenced to death.
Wade Wilson, also known as the “Deadpool Killer,” showed no emotion as Lee Circuit Judge Nicholas Thompson delivered his death penalty.

The ‘Deadpool Killer’
In 2019, Wade Wilson killed two women, Kristine Melton, 35, and Diane Ruiz, 43, by strangulation.
He became known as the Deadpool killer for having the same name as the comic book antihero.

According to the NY Post, the 30-year-old tattooed killerwas found guilty on June 12 of two charges of first-degree murder.
Wilson was found guilty of other counts, including grand theft, burglary, violence, and petit theft, in addition to his murder convictions.
The double murderer’s attorneys contended that because of his drug addiction and adoption as a child, he had abandonment issues and brain damage.
During his five years in prison, Wilson received thousands of fan mail, love letters and X-rated photos from admirers during this time in jail. A few even wrote to the judge, pleading for mercy and asserting that Wilson’s behaviour had changed while taking medicine.
For those uninitiated, this abnormal trend is not new; among the dangerous inmates who have garnered this kind of interest are renowned serial killers Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, and Richard Ramirez, according to Hindustan Times.
The gruesome murders
On October 7, 2019, then 25 years old, Wilson met Kristine Melton and her friend Stephanie Sailors at a bar in Florida’s Cape Coral, which is about two hours south of Tampa.
Once the Sailors left, Wilson viciously choked and strangled Melton while she slept, taking her car as well, according to The Sun.
The trio spent their last night together in Melton’s house.
Wilson luredDiane Ruiz into Melton’s car later that morning after seeing her strolling down a street, then battered and strangled her.

As Ruiz “looked like spaghetti,” he shoved her out of the car and drove her over almost 20 times, Wilson’s father, Steven Testaccca, testified in court.
Unsettling security footage captured shortly after Wilson brutally murdered Melton and Ruiz reveals him driving wildly into a parking lot.
Wilson parks his car, gets out, and walks into one of the shops, disappearing from the view of the camera.
He then confessed to killing someone as soon as he walked into the store, the store owner later testified in court, according to The Sun.
Melissa Montanez, Wilson’s ex-girlfriend, called the Fort Myers police earlier that day.
Wilson, according to Montanez, attacked her in Mila Spa’s parking lot.

She told police that Wilson stole her car from a bar the night before, and she wanted it back.
Wilson was seen sitting in Montanez’s car when police arrived at Joe’s Crab Shack after receiving a tip that he was there.
The judgement
According to the NY Post, Judge Thompson called the murders“heinous, atrocious, and cruel,” adding that the second murder was “cold, calculated, and premediated.”
In court earlier, Wilson’s actions were criticised by Assistant State Attorney Andreas Gardiner, who stated, “This case was about killing for the sake of the killing.” Strangulation is the epitome of life slipping through someone’s hands.”
The jury decided on June 25 to execute the two murderers, voting 9-3 and 10-2 in favour of the punishment. Wilson’s legal team filed a motion on July 3, asking for a new trial or acquittal on the murder charges. But on August 15, the motionwas turned down.

Wilson was supposed to be sentenced by Judge Nicholas Thompson on July 23. However, the sentencing was postponed due to a defence motion.
According to NDTV, his adoptive parents also pleaded for mercy, stating they believed “the human is still in there” and asking the court not to impose the death penalty.
In a letter, the parents stated that “the human is still in there.” “Please see it in your heart not take our son,” they wrote.
According to reports, Melton’s cousin Samantha Kelly, who requested to remain anonymous, claimed that the period of time between the deaths and the sentencing felt like “five years of agony.”

Felix Ruiz, the father of Ruiz, stated that he would wantto witness Wilson’s death.
“I didn’t get to say I love her. I miss her,” Felix said, according to The News-Press.
