Congratulations to UTRGV alumna Gisel Garza on being awarded the prestigious National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship!Garza, a first-generation college student, is passionate about environmental conservation and the unique ecosystems of the Rio Grande Valley. During her time at #UTRGV, she gained valuable research experience working in Dr. Teresa Feria's lab and even started a Native Plant Conservation Club.Now, as Gisel pursues her PhD in Ecology and Conservation Biology at Texas A&M, the highly competitive NSF fellowship will provide 3 years of funding to support her important work. 🎉 Exciting News! 🎉UTRGV Edinburg CISD Collegiate High School is opening its doors on Aug. 19! This state-of-the-art facility will welcome more than 400 students, offering specialized pathways in health professions, engineering, education, computer science, and more. 🏫✨The unveiling was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony with speakers UTRGV President Guy Bailey, ECISD Superintendent Dr. Mario Salinas, and Edinburg Mayor Ramiro Garza. The new mascot, the Lynx, was also unveiled! 🎉🐾Students will transition from high school to college seamlessly, earning more than 50 hours of college credit while still in high school!
